Organisation of the Workshop Room
Think about how you would like to organise the room for your presentation. You may like to discuss this with the Roll Call teacher prior to beginning the workshop. Some options: - Normal classroom arrangement, semi-circle of tables and chairs, circle of tables and chairs, groups of tables and chairs If you do rearrange the room, remember to arrange the room back to how it was before you leave. Make sure the computer, data projector and speakers are switched on and ready to go at the before you start the workshop.

Introduction:
Today we are going to explore an issue that relates to being a good digital citizen which means participating safely with digital technology including things like computers, mobile phones and the internet. Being a good digital citizen is important whether you are at home, work or school. We are focusing on Being Social Smart

Explanation:
Social networking describes a variety of services like YouTube, MySpace, LiveJournal, Twitter, Tumblr and Online games such as World of Warcraft and RuneScape Social networking sites are a great way to stay in touch with your friends and family. You can post information about yourself and display photos, tell everyone what you have been up to, play games and basically just hang out A lot of social networking can also be done from your phone. However, it is important to know when social networking and texting is getting a little out of control and making you feel uncomfortable. -2-

It is important to remember that good communication is the key to sorting out any problem. Just because we communicate in many different ways, doesnt necessarily mean that the message is always clear. We need to make sure that we communicate in each situation in a way that is appropriate. 9.13 9.24am

Activity 2: Social Networking and Your Photo Fate


View the Video - Your Photo Fate Open the Social Networking Tips ling Students are to discuss with the person next to them with examples were shown in the video. As a class: a. How much control do you have over a photo once you send it to someone? b. Who can then see your photo? c. What kind of situations could this lead to? Lets look at have a bit of fun with getting rid of too many messages Go to text invaders link Demonstrate this on the projector, students to play in pairs/individually on laptops Students will need to type in URL on their laptops Handout prizes to student who get the best scores.
