Praise & Worship:

Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at His holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy. Psalm 99:9
THE MESSAGE BEHIND THE WORDS by Krissy Nordhoff

There was a little boy in our church that had a terminal illness. He was about 18 months old. I was thankful to be a part of praying for healing for him. Our congregation prayed for him on a Wednesday night, and one week from that day he went to be with Jesus. Definitely healing, but not the way we had hoped.

Your Great Name

Krissy Nordhoff & Michael Neale Lost are saved; find their way; at the sound of Your Great Name All condemned; feel no shame; at the sound of Your Great Name Every fear; has no place; at the sound of Your Great Name The enemy; he has to leave; at the sound of Your Great Name Chorus Jesus, worthy is the Lamb that was slain for us Son of God and man you are high and lifted up; that all the world will praise Your Great Name Verse 2 All the weak; find their strength; at the sound of Your Great Name Hungry souls; receive grace; at the sound of Your Great Name The fatherless; they find their rest; at the sound of Your Great Name Sick are healed, and the dead are raised. At the sound of Your Great Name Chorus Jesus, worthy is the Lamb; that was slain for us Son of God and man; you are high and lifted up that all the world will praise Your Great Name. Your Great Name. Redeemer, my Healer; Lord Almighty My Savior; Defender; you are my King Redeemer; my Healer; Lord Almighty My Savior; Defender; you are my King Jesus, the Name of Jesus, you are high and lifted up; that all the world will praise your Great Name. Savior, Son of God and man; you are high and lifted up; all the world will praise Your Great Name. Your Great Name. Your Great Name.

Also during this time, I was reading through the Psalms, studying the meters and rhythms hidden inside. I was enamored by Psalm 136. Every statement about the Lord was followed by "His love never quits." I felt the power in repeating that truth in every situation. So I sat down to write one day, for no other purpose than worship. Something rose up inside of me. Something that made me want to declare from my depths the truth about who God is. The truth of who God is, even to our church, even to that little boy, even to His family. Something that said we can not stop praying for people for healing, or be discouraged in any way. He is who He is! His word is rock solid, and He does not change. He can heal the sick, He can raise the dead if He so chooses. All power is in His name. I believe we need to pray every time! I finished most of the verses and a lyrical idea for the bridge that day. Then the song drove me crazy. I couldn't finish it for anything! I co-wrote with 2 people trying to find the perfect chorus, and it just wasn't the right one. Finally, I passed the song on to Michael Neale. He liked the song, but thought it needed a new chorus. I told him to go for it. He sent back the finished song. It just felt like a beautiful, outburst of worship after the lines of declaration. We never did sit down to co-write either! It was all done over email. I am so thankful to have been a part of writing "Your Great Name". When I get to heaven, I hope this is my greeting!!!!

The Tenderhearted Woman is Kind and Gentle

as I searched for something that would be perfect, that would bring comfort, that would bring fulfillment; I did an awesome job keeping my eye firmly fixed on my goal. You know, the goal of pleasing myself. Have you ever been there?

On Friday afternoon after pulling my tired feet out of the car, feeling rather sorry for myself, and having lost the joy Is your home a place of quiet in my heart, I realized someone must have given me a packrest or is it a battle ground? age I wasnt aware of. The Bible tells us in Colossians 3:1-11, 1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Ohhow exciting!!! Or was it? As I opened the bag and took out its contents, what should I be holding on so tight to? None other than an old used dress! What is this? I began thinking. Who would give me an old used dress! As I began to examine the dress more carefully, I soon realized this old dress was mine! I had taken it off and given it away!

This passage reminds me of some decisions I recently made. As I stood in front of that mirror and observed myself in that old dress, I soon realized that I had been so caught up with my eyes focused on things of this earth, that I had not set my eyes on things above.

I quickly tried to remove the dress; to once again discard it, but it didnt want to come off! I was stuck! The fabric I decided to go shopping on several different occasions. The Bible tells us in Colossians 3:12-15, 12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. I soon realized that I had been searching during the course of my entire week for the wrong outfit. I had not looked for tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness and longsuffering. My eyes had been so fixed on the things of this world that I had forgotten to look up, to focus on my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Today many women want to rush out the door each morning so they can quickly get to the seemingly really important stuff! The stuff we believe matters most to others! Many times we often fail to realize that spending time in Gods word and in prayer is where training for a womans character begins. It is important for us as Christians to become tenderhearted women of God, and the first place it is displayed is in our own homes with our families.

If you will be diligent now, to focus on the things above, the things of God; and spend time getting ready each morning by opening your Bibles and praying, there will be no doubt that you will begin to see a new outfit appear. A Womans High Calling

by Elizabeth George
Many times folks in church will talk about the passage in Titus 2:3-5. Have you ever taken the time to sit down and study those verses? Have you ever wondered what exactly was meant and how it could apply to your life? In the book, A Womans High Calling by Elizabeth George you will find this book guides you through Bible study to understand the meaning of Titus 2:3-5. It is written as part observation using Gods Word, part interpretation, by defining each section and lastly real life application. Included in the back of the book is a Bible study guide to help you have a deeper understanding of the message by working through more scripture.

This addition is updated, so if you have read this book in the past, this version has been condensed in some sections and flows much better than the first. A Womans High Calling is wonderfully written for a Mother-Daughter Bible Study. It is also appropriate for all levels of Christian Maturity that will inspire and challenge each person individually. Obedient to their own husbands willingly submissive, creating security for the home So that the Word of God may not be blasphemed. Whyso that we are believable when we teach our young women how to be untangled from the world. There is such value in the faith and lives of spiritually, mature women. She knows there is freedom through Gods Word. Like the curved knife that freed the whale, Gods Word is a double-edged sword that represents the truth and we are cut free by the TRUTH! The pull on our younger generation is the strongest I have ever seen. Our girls are so vulnerable and in danger of being lost for eternity. We MUST NOT let this happen. God gave me a heart for our young women. My passion is making sure they know who Jesus Christ is, that He died so they could know the true meaning of LOVE. If they accept His free gift of salvation, they can be assured of eternal life with Him in heaven, safe and untangled from our dark, fallen, evil world.

Untangled
By Kimmie Bowser A front page story of the San Francisco Chronicle told the true story of a humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, and a line tugging in her mouth. A fisherman spotted her just outside the Golden Gate and radioed an environmental group for help. The rescue team arrived and determined she was so bad off, that the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in joyous circles. She then came back to each diver and nudged them to thank them. Some said it was the most beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes were following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

My daughter Jenna is almost 26 years old. We both were saved 14 years ago. Jenna was twelve, struggling with doubt and wondering if this God thing was real. Shed seen me struggle for many years. As I raised Jenna through Gods Word, I had to make many changes in my lifestyle. As I continued to make God a priority, my life was transformed. Did I make mistakes? Absolutely, but God What a beautiful, true story. God wrote a beautiful story that is never left me and I never left Him. Jenna said she saw a true, genuine, lasting transformation back in 1998. She felt God was real in true: The Bible! He wants to untangle us from the traps and lines my life and she wanted that. A Mothers Heart

small child I cannot recall my mothers arms around me; or I love you being said to me each day. She gave me her heart expression of love, and I knew the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Before mom went home to be with the Lord in 1987 I was blest with the warmth and feel of her arms around me, and yes ~ I heard her say I love you. A mothers love is a special gift in the many ways she shares it. A mothers heart is what makes a home a place where love flows in her own creative ways. She shows her love through her personality. She shows it through her tireless efforts to make you feel special in her eyes. She permeates wisdom in her abilities to know what is best for you whether you think so or not. A mothers love is the essence of what makes a happy home. Her dedication as a homemaker and mother is a passion of her heart. Through a mothers eyes you can see discipline, joy, gentleness, confidence, security and strength. Above all is her strength, which is what keeps her going. She finds her strength in her relationship with the Lord. Gods Word feeds her nourishment every day to keep her growing in His anointing for her as a mother. Isaiah 64:8 But now, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and all we are the work of Your hand. God molds and shapes us as wives and mothers. Children learn from the examples of their mother. She is their teacher and shares with them her heart for the Lord. She is her childrens potter, and they are her clay.

I would like to share with you a portrait of my mother. One hundred eleven years ago on November 11, 1901 my mother was born and was named Elizabeth; biblically meaning, I am Gods daughter. She was one of five children. Sadly their mother was unexpectedly taken from them by death in 1909 at the age of 33. Her father had been in the military and fought in the Spanish American War. I am not aware of all the circumstances that happened in my grandfathers life following the loss of my grandmother, but for whatever reason he felt he could not raise his five children by himself.

I can only imagine what times were like in that era and what difficulties he faced ahead of him to care for five children all under the age of nine years old. He made the decision to surrender his precious children to the custody of an Orphanage. I have to believe this was a heartbreaking trial for him to come to terms with. I have to feel it was a deep fatherly love that brought him to sign those papers that would change the life of God created a woman to be a help mate to her husband. He each one of his children.
