Dual Band Wi-Fi LNA using BF776

Introduction

Wi-Fi networks operate in the unlicensed 2.4 and 5 GHz radio bands, with 11 Mbps (802.11b) or 54 Mbps (802.11a) date rate or with products that contain both bands (dual band). To keep longer range communication, a cost-effective solution is using a low noise Figure, High-gain LNA. In this application note, Infineons BF776 would be introduced to dual-band WI-FI LNA application with its high performance of very low noise, high gain, high linearity. Concerning the loss of input/output long signal lines, the signal lines of input/output has been cut out, and replaced by two rigid RF cables. Standard FR4 material is used in a three-layer PCB. Please refer to crosssectional diagram below.Low-cost, standard 0402 case-size SMT passive components are used throughout. Please refer to schematic and Bill Of Material. The LNA is unconditionally stable from 5 MHz to 8.5 GHz
