Date of Execution: December 14-15, 2011 Objectives At the end of the 60 minute to 120 minute lesson, the students shall have: expanded their vocabulary and explanation skills by presenting to the class the word, quote and trivia for the day. created a story out of unrelated pictures with the use of at least seven (7) kinds of figures of speech performed a role play about the Christmas season using at least seven (7) kinds of figures of speech

Subject Matter: English II (Figures of Speech) Reference: Literatures of the World by Balinas, E., et al. Materials: Chalkboard and chalk Procedure: a. Routine Opening Prayer Word, Quote and Trivia for the Day b. Activity Role Playing: The students will be asked to perform their presentation about Christmas season with at least seven (7) figures of speech in the script. The students will be graded accordingly using a rubric.

Presented at least 7 kinds of Figures of Speech in the Role Play with clarity and precision. 3 Proficient Competent communication of characters feelings, situations and motives. 2 Adequate Adequate communication of characters feelings, situation and motives. 1 Limited Limited communication of characters feelings, situation and motives. Actors make more that 4 errors in grammar that distracts the audience. Choices demonstrate little awareness and do little to enhance role play. Story from Pictures: The students will be grouped into 3 groups. Each group will be given an envelope filled with six (6) unrelated pictures. The students are asked to compose a story about the unrelated pictures using at least ten (10) kinds of figures of speech. The students will be graded accordingly using a rubric. Sample Rubric
