Haddington and District ASC Weekly News Week beginning 20th August 2012

Coaches News: - Congratulations to Senga who has completed the Level 3 Coach Qualification! The last part of the course was the poolside assessment which was carried out by Alan Lynn, her course tutor, last Wednesday and Thursday. Achieving the qualification, which takes about two years, has involved many modules some done on training weekends and some done at home. Thanks to all the Jack Macks who were model swimmers in the pool last week for the assessment sessions. British Gas Youth and Age Group Championships: - In July Mike Thomson and Joanna Whitelaw competed at the ASA Youth Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. Mike competed in the 100m Back, Fly and Breast and in the 200IM. He made the finals of the 100m Breaststroke swimming a 1.05.25 finishing 8th overall. Joanna was 16th in the 400IM with a recorded time of 5.13.31. The following week Emma Crawford competed in the ASA Age Group Championships. She reached two semi-finals finishing 13th in the 100m Breaststroke and 20th in the 200m Breaststroke. Minnows Squad: - Last Friday we welcomed more new swimmers to the Minnows Squad - Millie Capaldi, Gemma Darling, Connor Lyon, Chloe Bruce and Ailsa McCall. There will be more swimmers coming for a taster session this week. Haddington Triathlon: - There are still no names down to help out at this years Haddington triathlon which will be run on Sunday 9th September. It is being organised by Katie Archibald one of our swimmers. We have been asked if the swimming club could help by supplying volunteers to count lengths/time the swimming or marshal etc. There is a notice on the board for volunteers to sign up so that I can pass a list directly to Katie nearer the time. The competition starts at 9am (tbc) with the swimming part first so there will be no training that morning. Please help out if you can. Dates: There will be no training on Sunday 9th September due to the triathlon Sunday 23rd September due to the Haddington 100s competition Please note the dates for the following: Club Distance Championships including the IM 11th November. It has been noted that this is Remembrance Sunday. The IM will be therefore be in the afternoon session Club Championships Saturday 18th November. This is for every swimmer in the club so please get the date in your diary Viv Hastie
