Haddington and District ASC Weekly News Week beginning 7th May 2012

Minnows news: - This week saw us Welcome Sebastian Forbes & Charlotte Gray to the Minnows. Jack Macks News: - this week was test week for the Jack Macks and saw many great swims. The most notable being Cera Gemmell who took Sam Muirs record for 800m Free (13:39.00) in a time of 13:30.64 with a PB of 103.38 seconds. HN-ELST News: - Brigid Hay this weekend went in search of gaining DRP times at Carnegie So Long meet and walked away with 200 IM and 200 Backstroke times as well as winning Gold (back) and Silver (IM) for her age group. Declan Till made his way to the 200 IM final at Total Swim Meet, coming in 2nd place with a nice pb silver medal and prize money. Finlay Williamson also made the finals of Total Swim Meet he also gained a nice pb, a gold medal and prize money. On top of that he broke two club records 100 IM previously held by Struan Stuart (1:06.86) in a time of 1:05.67 and a very long standing record for 200 IM previously held by Jody Forbes (2:19.22) in a time of 2:19.06 Kit: - The club is looking for a parent to take on kit sales. This would involve being at the club on Wednesday and Friday evenings so that parents can purchase hats, costumes etc. The bulk of the sales are to the Minnows squad so the kit person would need to be available during or at least at the end of the first session. FUNDRAISING The Total Swim Meet took place on Sunday 6th May, which was a great success. We are still finalising the final amount raised but will advise as soon as we know. Thanks to all who helped on the day and for all the tombola and raffle donations. SOCIAL /FUNDRAISING There are plans to run a couple of events to help subsidise the forthcoming French Exchange Trip, which will take palce in July 2012. Both events are open to all members of the club.

The first event is a trip to M&D's theme park on Monday 4th June, cost of the trip 25. (Details below). The second event is a family barbecue and disco to be held at the North Berwick Scout Hall on Saturday 23rd June from 6pm to 10pm. Mark and Susan Anderson have very kindly offered to supply sausages, burgers and rolls. Tickets will be 5.00 per person or 15.00 for a family of four.

M&D's Theme Park The cost of this will be 25.00 per person. To run this trip we need 6 adult helpers to help on the day. There is no charge for adult helpers. The details of the trip are as follows:-

Long course Training: - The next long course training session will be 19th May at Stirling University. Please sign up in the usual way on dropbox. Aquathlon: - We will need a lot of parents to marshal and timekeep at the Aquathlon Please let me know if you are available to help on Friday 1st June from 6pm A reminder that the entry form and information about the competition can be downloaded from the all squads file on dropbox and emailed to me on headcoach@swimhaddington.co.uk a printed copy of the entry form can be collected from me after 9th May

Saltire Shield first round 18th May warm up 7:30pm, there will be no training for Blue Fins or Marlins on that night, Jack Macks not in the team will have training at Prestonpans and Minnows will train as normal. Viv Hastie
