Hardy EV It is immoral to harm innocent creatures for the advantage of another species and giving nothing in return. This relationship is called parasitism and we humans can be the worst kind of parasite. Animal testing is a very pressing issue that, amidst all the protest, is still happening. Yearly, tens of millions to more than a hundred million animals with spines are believed to be used as animal test subjects globally (Cohn, 2010). The opinions regarding the moral philosophy made by experiments on animals that is currently being argued has changed (Rollin, 2006). The value of the test subjects should be taken in consideration in comparison to the value of knowledge that will be gained as order of the British governance (UK Parliament, 2002-07-13). The idea that animals have views and avidity, like other subjects of a life with moral rights, therefore, animals should have animal rights was represented by Tom Regan (Singer, 1991). Nonetheless, there have been advantages, if history will be reviewed. Treatment to Herpes, Simplex, Hepatitis B, Polio, Rabies, Malaria, Mumps, and other ailments have been achieved thanks to animal experiments. Practices such as blood measurement, lung diseases diagnosis, heart diseases diagnosis and other pacemaker technologies have been improved because of experiments on animals. Anaesthesia has been improved due to animal tests; it is a very important medical method during enucleating. Animal tests also benefited animals like canines and felines with their health and nutrition (Pandley, 2011). Here's a look into the downside of animal testing. The price of the knowledge extracted from these tests and experiments cannot absolve the truculence the animals get. Testers reason that it is crude to have human tests, but taking an animal that doesnt have the option to argue to the intention of the experiments to benefit people that have treated him/her savagely is equally crude. Some experiments are performed on species that is very different to human physiology. Such animals like primates are indeed very close to human physiology, but does that not mean that they are also adept and discerning? If it is crude to test on humans, surely it would be equally crude to testing on animals close to human physiology. Some tests are given to animals without anaesthesia is a highly unethical procedure. Humans are taking advantage of being the higher species by performing harmful tests, such as intentionally making the sample sick; just to understand the effects on us is inhumane. Surely, animals can be spared from this barbaric experienced due to rapid technological advancements. Instead of animals, human tissue cultures could be used (Lalwani, 2012). Weighting in the pros and the cons, it is obvious that the cons outweighed the pros in every ethical aspect. Besides all of these, some tests on animals are inaccurate and an ample amount of resources gets wasted on drug tests that are pointless. Alternatives are also available like, as mentioned, human tissue culture (Nakate, 2011). Animal testing is a very unethical issue that is supposed to be done for the love of science. More action should be executed to fix this pressing issue.
