Municipal Judge, City of Dallas

Presiding over jury and bench trials on cases involving class c misdemeanors, ordinances, zoning, traffic violations; arraignment of City inmates, arraigning juveniles, issue capias pro fine and alias warrants for class c misdemeanors, ordinance, and traffic cases upon determination of probable cause. Preside at the South Dallas Community Court located at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center which included working with the Dallas Police Department, Dallas County Sheriffs Department, and the POI/New Life nonprofit in the New Life Opportunities/Prostitution Diversion Initiative docket on the first Wednesday evening/ Thursday morning of each month. Magistrate duties include reviewing arrest and search warrants presented by law enforcement personnel to determine if there is probable cause to issue the arrest or search warrant. Exclusively preside over all juvenile cases from first appearance to a jury or non-jury trial. Supervise seven (7) case managers, all licensed social workers, who provide assessment and management of juvenile defendant cases. Provide ongoing training of seven (7) case managers regarding the forms, policy and procedures for municipal juvenile court and the utilization to improve juvenile court. Visit numerous schools throughout the metropolitan area to discuss juvenile law s with the student s. 2002 Speaker for Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center Diversion Program Anniversary Celebration. 2005 Speaker for Boys and Girls Club of Dallas Youth of the Year Banquet.

Inst it uted changes to the juvenile docket to bring the docket into alignment with the 2003 Juvenile Omnibus Legislative Bill. Co-Presenter of CLE "Handling Juveniles in Justice, Municipal and Truancy Court" for Juvenile Justice Series. Presenter of CLE "Handling Juveniles in Municipal Court" to the Municipal Justice Bar Association and the City of Dallas Attorney's Office - Prosecution Division.
