SCHOOL AND DISTRICT COMMUNITY


The Duval County School System in Jacksonville, Florida, has 170 schools, of which 103 are elementary, 25 middle, 19 senior, 3 exceptional education centers, 5 special schools, 7 charter schools, and 2 academies of technology. Fletcher High School is located in the beaches area of Duval County, Florida. The geographic area served by Fletcher extends north from St. Johns County to the Mayport Naval Base, west to the Intracoastal Waterway; it includes students who live in the communities of Mayport, Jacksonville, Neptune and Atlantic Beach. Community involvement and support are strong and contribute significantly to the quality of education available to students.

Fletcher currently has 24% of its students on Free or reduced lunch. The current enrollment has 456 seniors, 560 juniors, 587 sophomores and 624 freshmen.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
(Current Year) All graduates must demonstrate "minimum competency" as measured by the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) for Reading, the State End of Course Examination (EOC)* for Algebra I, Geometry, Biology and American History or the district EOC. In addition, 24 credits are required with an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0.

CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL EXAMINATIONS (AICE)


Fletcher High School's Academic Acceleration Program is the Cambridge University International Examination Program- (AICE) Advanced International Certificate of Education (otherwise known as CIE). AICE is a rigorous, internationally recognized pre-university curriculum that provides students with a broad, balanced preparation for college honors-degree programs. AICE is recognized as the equivalent to first-year standing at more than 150 colleges and universities in 39 states. The invitation-only program has been at Fletcher High School since 2010. Graduation Requirements- AICE students must achieve a total of 6 points by passing AICE examinations (AS exams=1 point, A exams= 2 points) to be eligible for the AICE diploma by the end of their senior year. The student must achieve a minimum of 1 point in each of the areas of Mathematics & Science, Arts & Humanities and Languages. All AICE students must complete at total of 28 credits (4 English*, 4 Math*, 4 Science*, 4 Social Studies*, 2 World Languages & 10 electives) *All courses must be at honors level or higher.
