Advant OCS with Master software User Documentation CD-ROM with the Article Number: 3BSE 008 143R1001

Introduction
This CD will be updated and released 1 to 2 times a year to reflect the latest version of the User Documentation. The documentation is written in FrameMaker and converted to Acrobat format and can be read with Acrobat Reader. Acrobat Reader Version 3.0 is available for installation from this CDROM.

How to Use This Disk


Opening a File in HP-UX 10.20 Mount & unmount cdrom, Install and Start the Acrobat Reader 1. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive connected to the Advant Station 500. 2. Open a Terminal Window (max dialogue on) <System Config> - <Station> 3. :$ cdon (if cdon is available on your system else) - :$ su (to become super user) password # mkdir /cdrom # mount -e -F cdfs -o cdcase,ro,nosuid /dev/dsk/c1t2d0 /cdrom (to make the CD file system available) 4. :$ su (become super user if not done) # cd /usr/local # mkdir acrobat # cd acrobat (/usr/local/acrobat) # tar -xvf /cdrom/acrobat/a_setup/acrounix/acrdsrch.tar # ./INSTALL # rm *.TAR (save some disk space) # more INSTGUID.TXT (there are some useful hints) # exit (you dont have to be a super user) 5. :$ hpterm -name AcroReading & (will be occupied while reading) :$ StartAcrobat [hostname] (if available on your system else) - :$ cd /usr/local/acrobat (just to make sure in the new window then) :$ bin/acroread (start the Acrobat Reader from the new window) 6. The Acrobat Reader and Open (file) are now available, use the filter to find /cdrom/acrobat/*.pdf Select Booklist, which contains the titles of all the books on the CD. Click on a book title in the Booklist to open that book, or use the bookmarks in the overview area at the left side. Click on an entry in the Table of Contents or the bookmarks in the overview area at the left side. The file containing that entry is opened at the appropriate page. :$ cdoff (or become super user and unmount the CD file system) # umount /cdrom (to make it possible to eject the CD-ROM from driver)

Note that the super user is not needed to do the 'cdon', to start the Acrobat Reader nor to do the 'cdoff'.

Opening a File in Windows 1. Make sure that Acrobat Reader is installed. 2. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive. 3a. Start the Acrobat Reader by double-clicking on the Acrobat icon. 4a. Choose Open from the File menu and select the CD-ROM drive, and the Acrobat directory. A window is displayed containing the Booklist file. 5a. Double-click on the Booklist icon. This opens the Booklist file, which contains the titles of all the books on the CD. or 3b. Start the File Manager by double-clicking on the File Manager icon. 4b. Select the CD-ROM drive, and the Acrobat directory. A window is displayed containing the Booklist file. 5b. Double-click on the Booklist icon. This start the Acrobat Reader program and opens the Booklist file, which contains the titles of all the books on the CD. 6. You can click in the overview area at the left side to go to the group of books you prefer. 7. Click on a book title in the Booklist to go to the Front page of that book. 8. Click the TABLE OF CONTENTS in the bookmark overview area at the left side. 9. Click on an entry in the Table of Contents or the bookmarks in the overview area at the left side. The file containing that entry is opened at the appropriate page. Opening a File on a Macintosh 1. Make sure that Acrobat Reader is installed. 2. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive. 3. Start the Acrobat Reader by double-clicking on the Acrobat icon. 4. Choose Open from the File menu and select the CD-ROM drive, and the Acrobat directory. File Navigation in Acrobat Reader


Navigating through a File To navigate through a file, use one of the following methods: Use the scroll bar. Click on the Page buttons in the window border. Use the page up and page down keys. Use the commands on the View menu, which take you to a specific page, to the next page, to the previous page, and so on. Using Hypertext Hypertext links let you jump from one file to another (or to another location within the same file) through one of the following methods: Click on a book title in the Booklist to go to the Front page of that book. Click the TABLE OF CONTENTS in the bookmark overview area at the left side. Click on a heading in the Table of Contents or in the bookmark overview area at the left side to go to that location in the book. Click on a figure title or table title in the bookmark overview area at the left side to go to that figure or table in the book. Click on INDEX in the Table of Contents or in the bookmark overview area at the left side to go to the index register file. Click on an index entry to go to that location within the book. Click on a cross-reference to go to another section within the same book. Other Features You can search for a word or words within a file by using the Find command in the Tools menu. You can resize your view of a document by clicking on the Zoom buttons in the window border. The CD-ROM has a Global Index and if you use Acrobat Exchange (in stead of Reader) you can search for any word or phrase in all books from anywhere. See Acrobat Exchange documentation.
