While running, if the EB feed back indication (YELLOW Lamp) on DMI panel is OFF & Buzzer is sounded (Intermittently), the TPWS brake interface portion has malfunctioned. There will not be any message on DMI for this situation. After this situation, Loco Pilot has to stop the train and close the isolating cock (fitted with micro switch) provided in both cabs under the driver brake controller nearer to the FTIL interface Relay Box. Also Loco pilot has to turn the TPWS Isolation Switch to Isolation On position. DMI will show IS mode. This failure event has to be recorded on loco repair book for urgent attention. Loco pilot shall work train under his responsibility in IS mode.

c)

Brake Interface Relay Unit (IRU) failure In case of internal failures in IRU, Full service and emergency brake application will take place through E70. Loco pilot has to Isolate the IRU through the Isolation switch provided on IRU. Brakes will be released and SB/EB commands of TPWS will not be executed by IRU but EB will be executed by EP relay valves. In order to have protection through TPWS by way of EB, TPWS should not be isolated in case of IRU is isolated. Loco pilot should be extra vigilant since SB application is not there and train protection is available only through EB application.

16

TOTAL LOSS OF TRACTIVE EFFORT (TLTE)

Follow existing procedure given in Loco troubleshooting Directory (TSD). If not succeeded, isolate the TPWS and proceed in IS mode.

17

RELEASE SPEED AREA

When train is under release speed management, the release speed value is displayed on DMI in numerical/segment. On the external part of the speed dial, the maximum speed is displayed in yellow and the release speed is displayed in dark yellow (greenish) duly merged at the end. Loco pilot shall maintain the speed within release speed permitted. Emergency brake will be applied in case the speed in release area is exceeded even slightly more than the release speed.
