A QUICK SUMMARY
The New York World's Fair is really beginning to shape up. Progressive
activity is the best way to describe it. Everybody seems to have
suddenly become aware of the fact that the Fair opens in just 430 days!
Nine new starts of exhibitors' construction projects during the month
brings the total under way to 30. 1100 construction worl(ers are now
on site.
Among the larger Exhibitor Projects, our own GE Exhibit is complete as
to steel work; New York State is completing the slip-form pouring of
the sixteen hundred foot concrete towers for the circarama roof; the
Port of New York Authority is completing erection of eight ring-box
girder sections that support the helicopter landing platform; General
Motors is completing erection of the 18 huge girders that form the
centrally supported dome of their automobile display salon; Ford's
steel work is looming up quite spectacularly; Eastman Kodak, Coca Cola,
Bell System and many others are getting under way in earnest.
And the World's Fair Corporation will shortly be advertising some
major contracts on roads, sidewallts, olus the construction of parking
areas for 25,000 cars, and other important i.nstallations.

In the 1939 New York World's Fair, Westinghouse buried a Capsule
containing exhibits and micro-records, slated, according to them,
to be opened by the inhabitants of Flushing Meadow in 6939 A.D.
In this Fair, they have centered their futuristic tri-tower exhibit
over the former T1me Capsule. They plan to bury a duplicate of the
6939 Capsule covering developments in the last 25 years.
