SOALAN TUGASAN /ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

Your task is to alter the difficulty level of a test item and to reflect on the outcome. Do the following:

1. First, select a test item that requires an open-ended or subjective response from any English language test available e.g. from an institution such as a school, college or university. 2. Next, modify the test item to make it more difficult but still appropriate for the age level of the students who are expected to take the test. Describe why the test item is now more difficult. 3. Then modify the original test item to make it easier maintaining once again the appropriateness of the age level of the students - and describe why it is now easier than the original item. 4. With the three versions of the test item (original, more difficult and easier versions), what would you suggest as the full marks for each version? Why have you suggested the full marks for each version? Describe what you think makes a test item easy or difficult. Support your views with references to the literature on language testing and assessment as well as by providing specific examples, especially from the language testing context in Malaysia. 5. Ensure that you include a references/bibliography page using correct formatting (preferably APA).
