LED On-Camera Units

Superior picture quality with reduced power consumption
Autoscript was the first prompting manufacturer to apply LED technology to its TFT (thin-film transistor) display range, bringing significant advantages over fluorescent backlit monitors. Alongside increased display longevity and lower energy consumption (particularly important for teleprompter monitors powered from the camera head), Autoscripts LED TFT-Plus delivers higher contrast levels for greater clarity, and smooth, fast refresh resulting in less strain on the eyes. More detailed text rendering is particularly important for languages that dont use the standard alphabet, while the 4:3 format is essential for reducing scanning movement in the presenters eyes. Features include: Eco Plus saving power when no active video is present Preset low consumption modes for use with camera utility power outlets Built-in dimmable tally light with Opto Sensor input and repeat output Illuminated control panel for easy visibility in dark studio conditions Optional HD-SDI input Intelligent, silent cooling.

Ever-alert to changing trends in television production, Autoscript has developed a new, 1lb on-camera 5.6" LED backlit flat screen monitor with all of the standard functions of its larger cousins, including connections for composite BNC and Hirose power inputs. The MiniScript 5.6 on-camera prompter recognises the increased use of handheld cameras for live and studio-based entertainment production. The MiniScript 5.6 features very low weight and power consumption, a rugged metal case, professional connectors and a scan reverse switch. Outfitting portable cameras with teleprompters provides a safety net for on-air presenters, who appreciate being able to refer to a prompter as they move freely about the set. More importantly, this style of production delivers a live feel that provides an intimacy between presenters and their audiences, increasing creative options for producers and drawing viewers into the action. Although the monitor is mounted above the lens, it is as low as possible to the eyeline, so the talent doesnt appear to be reading over the camera. Small enough to be lightweight, the prompter is nonetheless large enough for the talent to stand comfortably about six feet away from the camera.

Stand and Deliver

STA/1 & STA/RF
The Autoscript Executive systems have been designed with knowledge gained within rental divisions over the last 25 years. The Rise & Fall Motorised Robotic Stands offer the ability to adjust the height of the stands automatically. This can be performed by either programming the stands or using the Autoscript WinPlus Conference software. The Rise & Fall stand offers the flexibility for all variations and scenarios when used at awards ceremonies, conferences and presentations. Stand position control data is transmitted via BNC 75 Ohm cable. Prompter video can be shared via an onboard video distribution amplifier with termination. Conference Plus Robotic stand controller software The Conference Plus software can control up to eight stands. It has an intuitive drag and drop interface with graphical representations of the available connected stands. The settings for each of the stand heights can be saved in a database which can contain up to 500 speaker positions. When integrated with WinPlus, marker triggers can simply be dragged into the script from the Conference Plus database; the stands will then automatically move to the desired position when this marker is scrolled over. No additional control is required, the operator can concentrate on prompting the script while the Stands manage themselves. A running order of speakers can also be constructed using saved information from the database. The Conference Plus package includes the Conference Plus software, Coax-USB converter box and USB Cable.

Total control
Delivering the perfect operator experience
Smart Combiner Box 2 SCB
Much of Autoscripts advanced technology focusses on optimising the operator experience, empowering them with the control and confidence necessary to give a compelling and authoritative performance. The Smart Combiner Box-2 provides the ultimate for plug-and-play of multiple prompter controllers. It addresses the needs for complex studio environments with broad ranging production needs for scroll control and more streamlined studios where on-air talent are required to control the prompter. Up to six scroll controllers can be connected and active at any time. If more controllers are required, additional SCB-2 units (Smart Combiner Box-2) can looped from the first SCB-2 to expand the number of scroll controllers further. With its built-in intelligence the SCB-2 seamlessly changes prompt control from one controller to another based on the last controller unit used. Controllers can be located up to 300 metres away from the Smart Combiner Box-2. It supports the use of HC-1 optical desktop controller, Magno Foot Control (wired and wireless), RAT Wireless Scroll Control and VoicePlus voice activated prompter.

Wireless Smart Combiner Box

SCB-W

A wireless version of the Smart Combiner Box, designed to address the growing usage of multiple wireless foot and hand controllers operating in the same studio environment. The SCB-W allows up to five separate wireless controllers to be used in a single studio. Additional SCB-W units can be integrated to increase this capacity: two channel sets allowing ten channels to be used with two linked units. This feature provides the flexibility of having multiple wireless foot controllers and/or wireless hand controllers in the same studio. The SCB-W can also be used with non-wireless Smart Combi units for a mixture of wired and wireless controllers. It is fully backwards compatible with existing RAT Wireless controllers. The SCB-W uses RF technology on the license-free range (400MHz in Europe/900Mhz in US) and streamlines studio automation by replacing the need for individual wireless receivers for hand and foot controls.

Foot and desktop presenter controls

From the world of advanced automotive engineering comes yet another innovation from Autoscript. Known as frictionless magnetic technology, it employs a Hall effect encoder to provide a smooth and sensitive response to gentle foot pressure, giving the talent easy and instinctive control over their own prompting. Autoscript has now integrated frictionless magnetic technology into its new Magno Foot Control and companion Desk Pad, both of which provide an ultra-responsive user interface for control of prompting systems. The repeated pushing and twisting action normally applied to mechanical foot controllers inevitably weakens the tension springs used in these devices over time. With Autoscripts magnet-based design however, there is no spring to weaken or break. In fact the Magno Foot Control is virtually 100% service-free. Using intuitive desk pad keys while connected directly with the WinPlus prompter software, the presenter can immediately assign specific controllers, view which ones are live, personalise them, and enable or disable them. Whether seated or in a standing position, presenters can use the Magno Foot Control and companion Desk Pad with equal ease. Unlike less precise technologies, the Magno interfaces with broadcast standard coax, enabling a hassle-free connection to the studios matrix for swift, practical set-up and reassuring reliability. The Magno also offers a longer life span than conventional technology. The Magno Foot Control features environmentally sealed speed control elements that have no moving contacts good for more than 10 million actuations proven Autoscript Control Net technology, very low power consumption and rugged all-steel case construction. The Wireless Magno Foot Control simplifies the installation of script controllers into studio environments without the need to run specialised cabling onto the studio set, and can be added seamlessly to existing Autoscript installations. Ten channels provide flexibility to have multiple wireless foot controllers and/or wireless hand controllers within the same studio setup. The MFC-W uses RF technology on the license-free range (400MHz in Europe/900Mhz in US). The Magno Foot Control will not interfere with any other devices and can be used up to 100 metres from the receiver module. The Magno FC and Desk Pad are powered from Control Out connector or from external 12V DC power supply if using Control Net.

What the users say

Autoscript is widely recognised as the industry leader, and the company is without question known for delivering quality products and great service. When it came to selecting prompting equipment for these state-of-the-art studios, Autoscript was the obvious choice. The robustness of the equipment, together with the high brightness LED screens that can cope with studio lighting, were also key factors in the purchase. Andy Waters, Head of Studios, MediaCityUK The coming BBC Arabic TV channel will be a true multimedia operation that will span content across television, radio and BBC interactive services. The combination of Autoscripts technology and their around-the-clock service and support made them the right choice for BBC Arabic. Jerry Timmins, Head of Africa and Middle East Region, BBC World Service

We were particularly impressed with the high quality construction of Autoscripts on-camera units. They are robust and well engineered, which is important as they will be moved around the studios a lot. We were also pleased with the brightness of the LED TFT units, and the ease of use of the prompting software which will allow us to import and edit scripts very easily. Paul Northam, Sky Studios Project Manager, BSkyB

We needed reliable, legible systems which could be used in a brightly-lit studio as well as in natural daylight. Autoscripts tools fit the bill in every respect. Jon Bennett, Head of Studio Output, Sky News

It is exciting to see how Autoscript has established a reputation as an industry leader among broadcasters in Spain. This new provision of services to TVE is particularly significant to Moncada since we are able to supply TV with a complete automated on-camera solution. Antonio Jess Rodrguez, Sales Director, Moncada y Lorenzo

Were very pleased with the new equipment. The new hoods are lighter weight and less obtrusive, and the LED backlit screens are much brighter and clearer. In addition, the integrated tally lights eliminate the need for the stickon indicators. Autoscript has always responded to our needs quickly and efficiently, which is largely why we have had a relationship that has been built up and maintained over a period of 20 or so years. Steve Luck, Senior Team Leader, ITN Studios
