Speaker
Zaid Ali Alsagoff is the e-Learning Manager and Fellow of IMU Centre for Education. He has been a practitioner and promoter of Open Educational Resources (OER) since 2005. He has more than ten years hands-on experience with e-learning in higher education. He is most known worldwide among learning professionals and educators for his learning adventure known as ZaidLearn.

Objectives
To discuss the benefits and challenges of OER To explore Creative Commons as an alternative to Copyright To find OER and OCW using a variety of search tools To identify a variety of web 2.0 and Social Media tools to develop OER To Reuse/Remix/Create OER using a Blog, Wiki or LMS.

This 2 day hands-on workshop will equip participants with the necessary skills to find, reuse, remix and create Open Educational Resources (OER) for their courses. During the first day, we will explore and discuss together the concept of OER, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), Creative Commons (CC), business models, and variety of OpenCourseWare (OCW) case studies and content development tools. During the 2nd day, participants will be required to work in groups (hands-on) to create a course topic/module (of choice) by reusing and remixing OER from a variety of resources. CANCELLATION POLICY
1. Any cancellation of registration must be made in writing to the Secretariat of The Open Educational Resources Workshop. 2. There will be a 50% refund of registration fee for cancellation made before 22 October 2012. 3. There will be a 30% refund of registration fee made before 8 November 2012. 4. There will be no refund of registration fee for cancellations made after 15 November 2012, however a substitute participant will be welcomed. 5. The Organiser reserves the right to cancel or change the topic of the workshop, if for whatever reasons beyond its control, the workshop cannot be held as scheduled or the topics need to be altered.
