On Socrates 1. Does it necessarily follow that when a person knows what is right he will do what is right? Why? No, the person who knows what is right does not necessarily follows that he will do what is right because it takes willingness. Yes, through knowledge one can acquire the truth but that is not enough a man should put that knowledge into practice without failing an error. A person who does the right thing is a virtuous man. It takes a wise person to do what is right.

(On Plato) 1. Do you agree with Plato that the soul exists prior to the body? Why? Plato stated that the body exists first before the soul but to my opinion the body and soul exists together they are inseparable. The body cannot exist unless the soul is present.

2. Can you picture out what kind of soul Plato ha in the WOLRD OF FORMS having three parts presuppose a material body? Do you agree with him? Why? No I cannot picture out what Plato have philosophized, for me, soul is only one being and it is not divided into parts. Man body can only have one soul. Those parts that Plato has said are the first explanation about how man exits and what is/are the factors contributing to the existence of man.

(On Aristotle)

1. Do you admit that plants, trees, pigs, cows, carabaos, etc. have souls? And if so, where do you think these souls go when they die? Why? Yes, I admit that plants, pugs, cows and carabaos have souls too. I believe that every living thing have souls. God everything with souls since He created everything like human soul which after death will ascend to heaven. They belong to God so as the plants, trees, cows and carabaos.

2. Explain what Aristotle claimed that man is rational animal. Aristotle stated that man is rational animal. Man is not a dichotomy of body and soul as what Plato claimed. What Aristotle is trying to say that body and soul is substantially united in order to be called a man. Their union is indispensable. The soul acts as the perfect realization of the body while the body is the material which has the capacity to receive life. Aristotle explained man through the principle of hylemorphism and presence of plants and brutes.

(On Agustine)

1. Explain what Agustine claimed that man is created in the image of God. Augustine explained man through divine theory. He claimed that man is created from the image of God meaning we represented God but not physical image. God is an infinite God, Powerful, Absolute, Mighty and Perfect but He imparted some of his qualities. Some of His qualities because, we, humans are limited. He is a knowable God and He gave man this quality to know the good and the bad.

2. Its well believed that suffering is the fruit of being sinful. It is still in the plan of God that man suffers? It is not in the plan of God that man suffers. When God created man out of love He let evil to exist as well as circumstantial output of the practice of freedom. When man does evil during the performance of his will, he is turning away to God. He commits a sin.

(On St. Thomas)

1. What is the concept of St. Thomas about the human body? What about the soul? Explain. His concept man is a substantial union of body and soul. The soul makes the body move because of its animating activity. The soul is the principle of life. As a substance, its intrinsic function is to think, to will, and to feel. In order to reach to the world the soul relies from the bodys capacity for sensation. That is why the soul is related to the body.

2. What did Aquinas mean when he said that the human soul is a substance? In what way can the body become a substance? The body is equipped with the facilities to which designed for. This body can only act through the soul. The soul is the form of the body and the body is the matter of the soul.

(On Descartes) 1. How did Descartes able to a conclusion that man is a thinking machine? Descartes concluded that man is a thinkin man because our body is like a machine that moves only if the essential parts are functioning well. The body moves because it has all the necessary parts like heart, brain, vein, bones and skin. The blood carriers with it an animating element and he calls it spirit.

2. How did Descartes explain the life in man? What is his view about death? The body as the substance can move without the soul. Descartes believed that our body is like a machine.

(On Marx)

1. Did Marx teach that there is human nature? Why? Marx thought that there is no human nature. Human nature is a social nature. Mans nature lies at the very heart of society and labor. He said that human nature is not given but it is something made.

2. Did Marx teach that man is determined by the material conditions of his life? Why? Do you agree with him? Yes, Marx teaches that man is determined by the material conditions of his life because only then he can anchor himself in the society. In my own opinion, I think man has its own nature that can out stand in the society. I believe each of us is uniquely made and we portray different nature.

(On Heidegger) 1. Do you agree with Heideggers contention that in the rat race man has fallen into the They or the crowd? Why? Yes because our existence is reserved for us. Nobody should decide for man the kind of life he wants to live. It is up to him to decide on it. The freedom to choose the kind of life is depending on our own choices.

2. Do you agree with Heidegger that your existence is not yet complete? Why? How? Yes, because I believe that existing is not just existing it is knowing your identity, doing your own things and making decisions based on your own and not dependent on the society. Existence will only be complete once man is able to realize his personal freedom, responsibility and etc. if man accomplish these things then his existence is complete.

(On Husserl) 1. In what way man can be understood according to the kind of world he lives in? We have to go through a phenomenological analysis before we can be understood according to the world he lives in, for the world is integral aspect of mans existence.

(On Evolutionist) 1. Are the theories of the evolutionists concerning the origin of man worth studying? Why? Yes, it is important to know the origin of man. We have to know where man came from and why he is existing. Those theories that philosophers have contributed help us to have an insight about man and with that we can make our own insight concerning man existence.

2. How would you tersely present the theory of Darwins theory? Do you agree wth him? Darwins contribution to the evolution of man leaves many questions. I can say that man didnt come from animals. It is not possible because man is treated as the higher form of animals on earth and besides, God created man out of His power. If man is from animals then why those animals still the same and didnt transform into human. Darwins evidences are not complete so I cant agree with him.

3. Generally, how did Chardin understand evolution? How did he relate evolution with God? Chardins believe that God through Christ is the center of evolution. Christ is the starting point and the terminal point of evolution. He related evolution through biogenesis the phase that shows how life started and neogenesis the phase that shows how man began and the Christogenesis the phase during Vhrist assumed our human nature.

finds his own identity while being in the crowd that is when he begins to realize why he is existing.

2. When can man find an authentic meaning of his existence according to Kierggard? When man is detached from the crowd, only then he can consider his life significant when one realizes his personal freedom, his subjectivity, his commitment and his responsibility. Man has to consider his individual existence not in terms of his biological entity political entity, psychological entity or asocial entity but in terms of his being a human individual who his designated to own his life, to frame his life and to consider his own values.

1. What does Frankl mean when he said that people who have whys in life will win over life? Frankl meant when people who have whys in life will win over life is when they begin to questions they searched for answers and they will find ways to make things happen. Through questioning man thinks and when he thinks he does it. 2. How can suffering enable man to find the meaning of existence? Through suffering man enables to find the meaning of his existence because he begins to realize the reason why he is existing by letting him to question about life. Man is the power to think and reason out. When he suffers he begins to wonder.
