On Sunday, October 14th, Cedar will host a noontime fellowship meal and launch a morning sermon series on 1st Peter called Far From the Home I Love. Its a great opportunity to invite family, friends & neighbors to church this fall for a great meal and a new series. In 1st Peter, the Apostle reminds all Christ followers that we are strangers & pilgrims in this present world. We have a high calling of serving Christ & suffering for his cause until he brings us to our heavenly home! Make plans to invite & attend! Choir Practice Begins in October! Calling all voices! Please join us at 4 PM every 1st & 3rd Sunday for choir practice beginning in October. The holidays will soon be here and we would love to add your voice to our church choir! Cedar Ensemble will practice every 2nd & 4th Sunday beginning September 23rd. Sleeping Bear Dunes Campout for Young Adults The presbytery would like to invite Cedar young adults to hike the dunes and enjoy the colors of fall with Pastor Vern Picknally (Fremont OPC) and other young adults from across the presbytery. On October 19-21, you can enjoy a weekend campout, a dune and backwoods hike, a time of devotions and prayer, capped with a closing Sunday service and fellowship meal at Providence OPC in Manistee. Cost: $25. Brochures will soon be available.

ANNOUNCEMENTS A Hearty Thank You Dena Luttikhuizen would like to thank the church family for the many cards, flowers & remembrances on her 94th birthday last week. I thank my God every time I remember you! Cadet Campout - October 12-13, the Cadets will be participating in the council wide Chuckwagon Campout, competing with their own covered wagon. All Cadets are invited. See Tom Dykema for details. Requests from Our Deacons Cedar deacons would like to recruit additional volunteers for our audio and sound ministry! Additionally, we are looking for facility openers and closers to make sure the church property is properly opened and closed on Sundays. Please see Deacon Tom Dykema if you are interested. Youth Group Outing - This Saturday, October 6, from 3pm-7pm the youth group will be navigating their way through a corn maze & enjoying a scenic hayride. We will meet at Hudsonville Christian Elementary School at 2:45 & carpool up to Ed Dunnebacks farm. Afterwards we will go to the Igo's for pizza, donuts & cider. We can provide rides homes at 7pm or you can be picked up from our home. OPC Worldwide Outreach E-Letters Would you like to receive a one page e-mail about OPC worldwide outreach every two weeks? ANNOUNCEMENTS Love Inc. Sorting Warehouse Volunteers Needed - Do you enjoy sorting and organizing items? Do you like meeting new people? If you do, the Love INC Sorting Warehouse is the place for you! We are in need of volunteers half-days Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Training always provided. Please contact Tonia at 616-662-3300 ext 122 if interested. Blankets, Pillows, Bedspreads -Do you enjoy sewing? Love INC is in need of fleece blankets, small child-size fleece pillows and twin size bedspreads for Foster Care Kits. These items are given to children entering the foster care system to help make the transition easier. Please mark these items for Foster Care and bring to Love INC. There is a pressing need for families who are willing to host refugee teens from Africa and Central America, who, because of violence and persecution have been separated from their families and forced to flee their homes. Lakeshore Pregnancy Centers will be offering new client advocate training sessions starting October 1 and invites you to get involved. Each client advocate is trained and prepared to minister one-on-one to women at Lakeshore Pregnancy Center. ANNOUNCEMENTS Biblical Study Tour of Israel: The Session of Redeemer OPC in Ada is sponsoring a study tour of Israel in the summer of 2013. Rev. Eric Hausler (Pastor of Redeemer OPC) will be co-leading a 13-day extensive Israel study tour June 17-29, 2013 along with Dr. John DeLancey (WSCPhil 88). Rev. DeLancey has led over twenty tours to Israel. Pastor Hausler will be doing the Bible teaching and Rev. DeLancey will be teaching on the historical and archeological sites. Preview Weekend at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia: High school students - you are invited to Campus Preview Weekend at Covenant College on September 27 & 28. A large van will be heading down from Harvest OPC and would love to have YOU join them! You will have an opportunity to observe classes, stay in the dorm rooms and attend Mountain Affair. Zion Christian School would love to have you join them at their Annual Auction! It will be held at the school on Saturday, October 27. Doors open at 4:30 and the live auction starts at 6:00. This is sure to be a fun-filled evening, complete with a delicious dinner and many great items to bid on. This is an adults-only event. If you would like to donate an item for the auction, please bring it to school as soon as possible. Baked goods, to be auctioned off on the baked goods table, can be brought to school on the day of the auction from 12:00-4:30. Hope to see you there! Zion Fall Festival - We want to show the community how God is blessing us here at Zion, and what better way than to invite them to a pig roast with a hamburger and hotdog cookout? The Fall Festival will have free games for the kids, face painting, hay rides, and much more. This event will take place on Saturday, October 13, from 3:00 to 7:00pm. If you need any assistance, please ask one of our greeters for help. SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE Cedar Church strives to enjoy God through Spirit-empowered and Christ-centered worship. The Bible is sincerely loved, and we hope that you will find it opened up to you in a fresh and faithful manner each Sunday. A NURSERY is available near the entrance of the gymnasium, but children are always welcome in the worship service. COFFEE BREAK After the morning worship, please join us in the gym for coffee and refreshments. KIDS BREAK After morning worship, all kids (pre-school thru 6th grade) are invited to the orchestra room for snacks and fun songs with Mrs. Himebook.
