10/8 Columbus Day 10/11 Dr. Durbal Visits @ 9:45am 10/17 Chapel w/Mrs. Jen @ 9:30am 10/31 Monster Mash @ 9:15am
Dear Parents,
This fall we will be part of an exciting reading campaign called PAWS for READING. For every 20 minutes you read to your child, Scholastic will donate a book to a child in need. More information will be attached to your sign in sheet.
We welcome back Miss Amanda, who will be working in the Infant Center, and Miss Neysa, who will be helping in the Pre-K room in the afternoons.
As the leaves fall your children will be raking it in with awesome fall activities. We always look forward to Dr. Durbal's visit on October 11th @ 9:45am. He brings super information on how to take care of our bones and bodies. Mark your calendars for a Monster Bash on October 31st @ 9:15am. Your child may wear a favorite monster or Halloween shirt (please, no costumes). We will have a monster good time! Tips to Skip Bedtime Struggles: 1. Be Consistent-set a specific time for bed and stick with it. 2. Give a warning-give your child advance notice that the day is winding down. 3. Offer a snack -a small snack with carbohydrates and protein will help induce sleep and help them stay asleep. Be sure to brush teeth before bed. 4. Warm bath-a warm bath is soothing and will help your child relax 5. Pajamas-wearing comfortable pajamas that are not too hot or too light. 6. Story time-read a story together. This is a very comfortable part of the bedtime routine for toddlers, especially when they start to recognize a familiar or favorite book. 7. Bed Friends-make sure your child has something to cuddle with when they go to sleep. 8. Keep goodnights brief-say a goodnight prayer, end with a kiss and leave the room while your child is still awake. Stay calm and do not return right away if they call for you. Disaster Sign-Ups: We are needing a few more names to help us out . Please sign up on the front of the sign-in book. Important Consumer Refund: Notice from the Federal Trade Commission - Did you buy Disney or Marvel Children's Multivitamin Gummies or Tablets? You may be eligible for a refund. Visit www.ftc.gov/vitamins for more information. Reminder: Infant Center Hours: 7:30am-5:25pm Children under the age of two or children in diapers: 7:30am-5:25pm All other preschoolers: 7:00am-5:40pm

We are off to the fall months and can't wait to get going. The next few months are going to be busy and full of fun activities. We start off with the month of October and it is busy. Our friendly nighttime animals are waiting for us to explore with them. We will read several books on bats, spiders and owls. In the block area we will have spiders and bats with our blocks so we can build caves. For art we will do handprint bats and spiders to hang from the ceiling. For music and movement this month we will dance with our capes and pretend bat wings. Make way for the royal toddler court. Our royal court will be holding a tea party on the 16th. We will decorate crowns and placemats for our tea party. Please wear your best prince and princess attire that day. The royal photographer will be taking pictures to place in picture frames that we will make on that day. Throughout the royal week we will make dragons and knights in shinning armor. What is orange, round and all different shapes and sizes? Yep it's pumpkin time. We need a parent to donate seven mini pumpkins to decorate on the 24th. We would like a large pumpkin donated. Pre-K: Mrs. Jen, Miss Kristie, Miss Hannah and Miss Neysa What an amazing beginning to our new school year. Learning about birthdays, shapes, and all about us and lets not forget getting to know all our new friends. We had so much fun in September we are sad to see it go, but hold on to your orange and black hats because what we have planned for October will be "Spooktacular"!! Our first week we are going to be talking about things that go bump in the night. We will all work together to make a giant spider web and for inspiration we will hunt for real ones outside. Our artwork will include bats on a moon, big eyed owls and even a spooky house. Look for the bats we will be hanging around the room. We will be collecting leaves for leaf rubbings that look like spider webs. On the 4th we will have a special share day so bring in your favorite night time animal. Our second week we are going to look to our friendly monsters to teach us all about our feelings. We will be talking a lot about things that make us happy and what we can do when we get mad. We will be rein- forcing these feelings with felt stories and the book Glad Monster Sad Monster. We will also be making all different monsters including everyone's favorite from Monsters Inc. For our third week we will be learn- ing all about our bodies and bones with our skeleton unit. We are going to have a life-size skeleton to take apart and explore, we will also be tracing our bodies outside. Our dress up will be transformed into Foothill Medical Center where we can become doctors and nurses. We will have lots of artwork that will show our bones and we'll be making some tiny skeletons with Q-tips. Also this month we will be getting a visit from Dr. Bones, who is going to teach us all about keeping our bones and body healthy. Our fourth week we will be explor- ing pumpkins and making them into Jack-o- lanterns. We are going to cut open some big pumpkins and check out the insides, and maybe even bake the seeds for snack. We will have a pumpkin to hammer nails into and pumpkins to paint. Be sure to check out the pumpkin patch and all our artwork around the room too. We will have lots of pumpkin books. We are going to be making Jack-o- lanterns and we will make them glow. For the final week, Halloween, we all have been working hard to put together a "spooktacular" monster mash bash on Wednesday, October 31st. We will have everything from games, to face painting, and dance off, even a special morning and after- noon snack. We will be watching a fun movie in the afternoon and the fun will continue throughout the day. Parents, if you would like to be involved keep an eye out for our monster mash bash sign up sheet. During this week we will be making lots of fun art projects and we have fun activities planned too. We want to wish Jasmine a very Happy Birthday on October 30th, and a big thank you to her mom, Carly for helping us with planting our beans. We want to thank all our families for the time and donations. We could not do all this with out you. Intermediate: Mrs. Sara, Miss Jessica & Miss Kayla
Fall is officially upon us and Pre-K couldn't be hap- pier to celebrate the new season! September was a great start to the new school year and we are thrilled with the progress our friends are already making. Pre-K did a great job learning all the new rules and routines, and most of us can either write our full name or most of the letters. We are recog- nizing our names at Circle Time and we had lots of fun decorating our names during art. We also learned when our birthdays are and got to decorate the block area with lots of festive decorations. Pre-K was fascinated by counting how many people are in each of our families, and we made a huge friendship mural for our classroom. What great teamwork! We practiced good manners during our afternoon tea party, so everyone knows to say "please" and "thank you" and to wait patiently for our turn. October is going to be a great month filled with Halloween shenanigans and learning more about this spooky season. The first week of October will be spent learning about body parts and our five senses. In the afternoon we will spend one day on each of the five senses. We will try and guess what items are by using only one of our senses, such as listening to a sound an object makes or by touching an object without looking. We will have a taste test to discov- er how our taste buds identify different flavors: sweet, salty, sour, and bitter. We will also smell some different scented candles and decide which one is our favorite scent. During the second week of October our themes will be No Bones About It and Jack-O- Lanterns! We will learn about the different bones in our bodies and meet some not-so-scary skeletons. We have lots of silly skeleton stories to read and fun art projects to look forward to in October. In the afternoon we will make jack-o-lantern decorations for our classroom and we will even carve a real pumpkin so we can see what's inside! If anyone would be willing to donate a large pumpkin for us to carve, that would be awesome! Halloween is Mrs. Jen's favorite holiday so we will continue the spooky fun during the third week of October by discovering Whooooo's Up All Night? There will be bats, black cats, and more nocturnal friends to meet in both the morning and afternoon. By the fourth week of October our room is sure to be in the Halloween spirit and we will be having a "Monsterously" Good Time! We will meet some silly ghosts, mummies, and monsters that are not scary at all. During the afternoon we will in- dulge our sweet tooth with a week with candy corn! There will be candy corn art, candy corn sorting, and even a candy corn prayer for us to learn. The morn- ing theme for the last week of October is Dia De Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. This is a celebration in Mexican culture where families honor their loved ones who have passed away by feasting and celebrat- ing and making beautiful crafts to display. In the afternoon we will be back in Medieval times where we can pretend to be princesses and knights and play in our castle dress-up area. Halloween is on Wednesday, October 31st and the whole school will be participating in a Mon- ster Bash! Intermediate as well as Beginners are going to join us in the fun!!!! It will include a groovy ghoulies dance party.....fog or bubbles included. Monster manicures and tattoos will also be available to get our friends in the mood. Outside we will have all types of sensory items to keep our friends trans- fixed for hours. Have you ever seen colored cooked spaghetti? Looks like monster hair!!! And we are going to cut it and swirl it and squish it. There will also be sensory bags with items inside them for our less adventurous friends. We'll make marshmallow print monsters and make a monster munchie mix to go with our afternoon movie.....TBA. As you can see we are going to be very busy that day, Halloween wear and monster t-shirts are the designated attire for the day..... please no costumes....we want the fun to be unfettered!!! Some of the other classroom news to let you know, this month we will be starting our new ABC's of the Bible. It has great songs and snacks and art activi- ties for every letter of the alphabet. I will be asking each family to donate snack items for one of the letters during the year, I will let you know what to donate. I am so excited, the kids love the bible sto- ries and can retell the stories when they see the pictures in other Bibles. Pre-K will also be starting our Whooo's Got Character? As you may have seen we have gone with an owl theme here in Pre-K. We want our friends in Pre-K to be as good as they can possibly be....we hope Owly the wise owl can help them to remember how to raise our hand, be respect- fuI of nduIfs nnd ofhors nnd fo sny Ionso nnd fhnnk you. Our frIonds wIII hnvo ono snyIng n month that we will memorize and practice putting the words into action. A HUGE thank you to all those who donated items for September, we could not make all these fun things happen without your donations. You are all awesome!!!!!!
