Lesson Objectives : By the end of the lesson, student should be able to: 1. read and understand an article about sports by responding to teachers question, for example: what is the tittle of the text ? what it is about ? 2. understand the contents and facts found in the text by constructing a mind map. 3. use mind map to remember important details in the text. 4. answer comprehension questions related to the text. Language Content : Reading comprehension skills. Using mind map. Vocabulary related to sports, for example: Educational Emphasis Moral Values Materials Previous Knowledge : : : : Learning how to learn obtaining information, organizing information. Procedures 1. Teacher brings a tennis racquet and shows it to the students. 2. Teacher asks students what is the function of a racket. 3. Teacher asks students what sports use racquet and other sports equipment. 1. Teacher shows a simple paragraph using projector. 2. Teacher asks students what are the details that can be found in the paragraph, 3. Teacher writes student response in a form of mind map.

Pre-Reading (10 Minutes)

Using Mind Map.

Lesson Plan Year 5 4. Teacher explains to the students how to construct a mind map while reading a paragraph. WhileReading (19 minutes) Read and construct a mind map. 1. Teacher distributes an article about tennis to the students. 2. Students read the text. 3. Students write down important points that they can find in the text in a form of mind map. 4. After 10 minutes (subject to change look at students understanding of the article), teacher collects back the article. 1. Students sit in a mix ability groups. 2. Students have to answer questions related to the text using the mind map they have constructed before as guidance. 3. Teacher checks students answer by discussing it with the whole class 1. Teacher asks students what other sports that they play. 2. Teacher explains to the students about the importance of team spirit when playing sports.
