Associated Student Government University of Arkansas ASG Resolution No. 2 Author: Senator Amy May West Sponsor: Senator Samantha Vaughn A Resolution to Support ASG Fresh HOGS Whereas, One of the goals of our current administration is to improve the ASG education program by giving freshmen the most educational and fulfilling opportunity to learn about ASG in order to build our organizations future leaders; and The Fresh H.O.G.S. program has been heavily revamped to increase the program quality and help to accomplish the goals mentioned above; and The Fresh H.O.G.S. program was evaluated last year through surveys and focus groups. Additionally, it has been benchmarked against several successful first-year programs across the SEC, allowing the program to incorporate new initiatives that have been modified from their source school to fit the University of Arkansas; and Programming has been revamped with additional programs including an individual mentor program and a Fresh H.O.G.S. retreat; and The Fresh H.O.G.S. retreat is going to cost approximately $800 total and will include all 50 fresh HOGS, the Assistant Coordinators, our Executive Committee and any administrators; and The Fresh H.O.G.S. mentor program, which will provide one-onone mentorship to Fresh H.O.G.S. throughout their freshman year, will have a social event costing approximately $100 which will also be used primarily on food expenses; then That the ASG Senate recognizes that the Fresh H.O.G.S. program builds the future leaders for our organization, that programming is a critical part of their development, and that the program incorporates the Fresh H.O.G.S.

serving the ASG Senate as pages as well as giving Senators the opportunity to participate in the Fresh H.O.G.S. mentor/mentee program; and Be it further resolved: That the ASG Senate allocates $500 to support the Fresh H.O.G.S retreat and the Fresh H.O.G.S. Mentor Program; and That any unused funds be returned in full to the ASG Senate to reallocate.
