Thepurposeofthisassignmentisto: Developlearnersskillsintheproductionofstopmotionanimation,usingtraditionalframebyframemethodstoanimate3Dmaterialssuchas objects,puppets,clayfiguresandothermodels. Enhanceyourorganisationalskillsbyplanningtheproductionofyourstopmotionanimation. Scenario TheBBCarelookingforyounganimatorstojointheirlargeproductionteamandproduce,atleast,a30secondpilotforanewpreschool childrensanimatedprogramme.Everymediaproductioninvolvesplanningtoenabletheprojecttobesuccessful.Thisprocessisreferredtoas preproduction.Aspartofthisassignmentyouarerequiredtohavetheknowledgeandunderstandingofwhatpreproductionisandhowyou applyittoyouranimation.

Communicationisessentialwhenplanningaproductionandyouwillneedtoensurethatyourproductionteam(ifworkingindividuallyall planningneedstobedocumentedandevidenced)meetsregularlytoprovideupdatesonpreproductiontasksthatarecompletedand outstanding.Aspartofyourpreproductionevidence,youmustkeeparecordofmeetingsthattakeplaceandanydecisionsmadeandagreed onbyyourproductionteamorifworkingindividuallyanymeetingswithyourclient. Aspartoftheplanningforthisassignmentyouwillbeinvolvedindesigningstoryboardsandadetaileddopesheetoutliningwhatisrequiredfor asuccessfulanimation.Asaproductionteam(orindividually)youwillfurtherdevelopyourstoryboards,dopesheetsanddetaileddrawingof charactersetc.Furtherdevelopmentofyourchosendopesheetandstoryboardswillbedecidedthroughregularproductionteammeetings. Forthisassignmentyoumustresearchandassignproductionrolesandproducepreproductiondocumentation.Yourgroup(orindividually) mustalsoproducedetailedstoryboardsandproductionplanningdocumentationinpreparationfortheproductionphaseofyourstopmotion animation.
