Personal Support Worker Post

Thank you for your interest in our post of Personal Support Worker. It is a new one to one support worker role based on a flexible contract and is tied to specific Co-worker placements at The Prospects Trust. The Prospects Trust at Snakehall Farm provides meaningful work experience sessions for adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities or varying health needs (or our Co-workers) Run to a cooperative ethos, the Prospects Trust provides a supportive place for all and as a Social Enterprise ploughs back any income from produce sales into the running of the organisation. We aim to provide opportunities to learn an extensive range of agricultural and horticultural skills, take responsibility within a community business and enable individuals to become independent, full members of society through developing fundamental life skills. Our current staff team of 12 is made up of co-managers and support staff and we also have a team of Trustees and regular volunteers that complement our staff team. One of the unusual features of The Trust is our flat management structure working to a co-operative ethos where we try and include all individuals in decisions that affect the day to day running of the organisation. We currently have 32 individuals of varying needs that come to us for training and work experience, attending Monday to Friday on various days. We have been operating at Snakehall Farm in Reach, Cambridgeshire as a registered charity since 1989. We have identified a potential 3 day a week role and core hours will be from 9am to 4.30pm, weekdays only. As the role is tied to individual placements, The Prospects Trust cannot guarantee weekly hours but has identified a current need for initially providing this support for 3 days per week. It is a hands-on role that requires full participation in supporting the needs of Co-workers with higher or challenging needs, providing them with the encouragement to participate in our day to day activities safely. Some personal care may be required from time to time. This will be a very rewarding role to the right candidate, supporting someone to grow into a responsible, experienced and independent individual with new life skills. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 28th August and we hope to conduct interviews Friday 31st August and then commence with inductions as soon as possible. Please note that this post is subject to a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Enhanced Check, which the Prospects Trust will fund for the successful applicant.
