Dear Students: Ready for 2nd Season sports? The time has come. Season 2 team try-outs start this week Thursday, October 18. The try-outs will be for girls and boys Basketball, Touch/Rugby and Tennis. See the bulletin for times and locations. Be on time and give it your all. PowerSchool grades will be updated this Friday, October 19. Be responsible; check your progress and communicate with your teacher if there is a concern. Parent Teacher Conferences take place this week Tuesday, October 16 and Wednesday, October 17. As a result, there is early student release both days at 12 noon and there are no after school activities. Please make sure that you make transportation arrangements to get home promptly. Also, Monday is a regular school day; there is no early dismissal as printed in the school calendar. This is the final full week of MAP testing. On Wednesday morning at 7:30 A.M., there will be a make-up session for any student who missed or did not fully complete one of the tests. YEARBOOK PHOTO SHOOT


The Middle School Year Book Photo Shoot is scheduled from October 22 to 25, 2012 in Room 1188 (beside AMR). All students will be photographed regardless of purchase. Each class will have a scheduled time for the shoot during the week. Students must wear their school uniform during the photo shoot.

Middle School Academic Bowl Practice Sessions


Do you know lots of interesting facts and general knowledge? Are you fast on the buzzers? Do you like Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader? THEN COME TO Academic Bowl Practice Sessions!! Practice sessions takes place in room P046 (Mrs. Birchenalls classroom) every Tuesday from 2:30 3:30 P.M. Successful students will represent ISM at the next Academic Bowl competition which is to be held at Faith Academy on the 6th November 2012. All Middle School students are very welcome to come to the practice sessions. If you have any questions or queries please speak to Mrs. Birchenall or e-mail her at birchenallv@ismanila.org.

IASAS Week: This week our HS Volleyball, Cross Country and Soccer teams are in the thick of IASAS action at Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur for IASAS. We wish all teams and coaches the best of luck and hope that everyone can play their best in the quest for IASAS gold. For those of us cheering for our Bearcats from Manila, you can keep up to date with scores and live streaming of some events via www.iasas.asia website. This site will have links and updates to streaming and all the scores. Schedules for the Soccer and Volleyball games are available on the blog at the following link http://atac.ism-online.org/ iasas/iasas-1st-season-schedules/ or via the www.iasas.asia site for live streaming and results. 2nd Season ATAC sports: Tryouts and Practice Schedule for MS & HS sports (Basketball, Tennis, Varsity Swimming, Boys Rugby and Girls Touch) have been posted on the blog and on notice boards around school. For interested Basketball players see the flyers in this bulletin for an upcoming Basketball camp being held at school for ISM MS/HS students during the October break. Permission slips have been issued to all players via the coaches at training. Please consult the ES and MS Rifa League links to get the latest information. NEW *October 13 - Rifa festival finals for teams that qualify will be held at ISM kick-off 8:00 A.M. - 12 noon (Top 8 teams qualify after the festival rounds! Teams that have qualified for the finals are the following: Midgets C1 Coach Eric, E1 Coach Popoy, E2 Coach Francis and G1 Coach Mike MS Girls Festival and Finals day is Saturday, October 13 *MS Girls festival and finals day combined will be held at CSA kick-off 8:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. GAME SCHEDULE PDF: (access to game schedule information) Information about all mid-week/weekend fixtures for ISM teams can be found via the ATAC blog. Please note the game schedule does change often due to involvement with many local schools so please check the page regularly to find out the latest information of where and when the Bearcats teams are playing. Click on schedules tab or the Bearcat logo to be directed to the PowerSchool secure site http://powerschool.ismanila.org/public/. You will need your PowerSchool username and password to access the game schedule. HS Student registration for ATAC activities: (new for school year 12-13) A Google doc registration is now available for all HS students who will take part in any ATAC seasonal sports teams, MUN and Cultural Convention programs. Please take the time to complete this online registration for activities that you plan on joining this school year. Please access the form via the HS Student Registration tab found under the Helpful Shortcuts bar on the ATAC blog home page. *Please note this is for HS students only and you must use your school email address to access the link. We have a great team of volunteers who run the den and are always looking for more people to help out. A reminder that the HS Play, an adaptation of Markus Zuzak's bestselling novel The Book Thief, is on next week. The story centers upon Leisel Meminger, a young German girl living in the midst of World War Two. As a book that is part of the Grade 10 reading list and also taught in MS Honors English, the play should prove to be both educational and entertaining. The play will be performed on Thursday 19th, Friday 20th and Saturday 21st of October at 6.30pm. There will also be a matinee at 2.30pm on the Saturday. Tickets are available from the cashier now.
