The exploration and the use of outer space shall be for peaceful purposes and shall be carried out for the benefit and interest of all countries. The prevention of an arms race in outer space would avert a grave danger for international peace and security---- The State of Japan fully supports this statement. The country is among a number of key Asian nations currently expanding their presence in space. Japan stresses the need for the use of outer space but for peaceful purposes and exploration only. The weaponization of space is the placement and development of weaponry and military technology in space. The militarization of space can be envisioned as a continuum, ranging from a completely unmilitarized condition in which satellites are not used for any purposes with military utility to a state of complete militarization in which large numbers of many types of space systems perform every possible military function. Japan firmly believes that supplying weapons into space in lieu of defragmenting the maintained peace in the world is a giant leap towards the dangerous effects of weaponization. The Diet resolution of 1969 established the principle of peaceful use of space as the bedrock of Japans space policy. Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution states that Japan could use and exploit space only for nonmilitary and peaceful purposes. The Reformed resolution of 2001 states that the use of weapons in space; by Japan is mandatory only in times of external threat and tension but that too efficiently without any misjudgment. Japan has also introduced or been a party of following agreements: The United Nations Outer Space Treaty, 1967. The United Nations Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space,2010. Convention on Registration of Objects Launched into Outer Space. UNOOSA Agreement on the Recommendation to Outer Space Treaty. With reference to all the statements made above the State of Japan, as a dutiful member of the United Nations urges it introduce innovative and effective ways of establishing cooperation within and between regional and international organizations. "Concluding a peace agreement may be the first step towards a peaceful world." Keeping in mind these views, the State of Japan continues to support and contribute towards establishing peace - harmony in the world.
