2013 Spring A cademic Internship Program

Young Dawgs C riteria: 1. Student must be either a high school senior or junior, have a minimum 3.5 GPA and be recommended by the designated school contact person. 2. Parent/Legal Guardian must participate in a parent meeting. The meeting is currently scheduled for December 13, 2012 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the UGA Training and Development Center. Process for Placement: 1. The student is recommended by the designated contact person at the school (i.e. School to Career Coordinator, Gifted Coordinator, Work-Based Coordinator, etc.) 2. Student will meet with Young Dawgs staff to discuss the program and what they hope to get out of this experience. 3. Student will complete the Young Dawgs Fall Academic iPAWS application prior to Friday, October 5, 2012 and attach a cover letter and resume (see iPAWS application process below)*. Young Dawgs staff will coordinate interviews between student applicants and professors/staff based on the interests of the students. Interviews will be held prior to November 30, 2012 . 5. Students will be informed on placement decisions by December 3, 2012. Young Dawgs staff will send information to students and school contacts. 6. Internships will start on Monday, January 7, 2013. O ther Information: 1. Young Dawgs internships are unpaid. 2. All student absences must be excused. 3. Students will act in a professional manner. 4. Students will be required to complete assignments associated with the internship including an end of semester presentation. *IP A WS A pplication Process (this process will take approximately 10-15 minutes): 1. ClickonthebluelinkinthecenterthatreadsSearchandapplyforstaffopeningsatUGA 4. ClickonthelinktotheleftentitledSearchPostings(thelinkwillbethesecond in the gray column) 5. SelectYoungDawgsintheJobFamilydrop-down box (will be last in the listing). 6. Click the Search button at the bottom. 7. ClickontheViewoptionunderneaththeYoungDawgsAcademic Program Spring 2013 job posting. (The view option will be underlined) 8. ClickonApplyforthispostingandfollowthedirectionstocompletetheapplication 9. ClickonthelinkentitledPleasecreateanewApplicationontheLoginpage 10. Enter your Social SecurityNumber,usernameandpasswordintheappropriateboxesontheCreateNew EmploymentApplicationpage.Besuretosaveyourusernameandpasswordtoaccessyourapplicationagain write them down if necessary. 11. At the end of the application process, you should attach your cover letter, your resume, and your letter of recommendation. 12. At the end, there is another Application Status screen with your record. You will receive a unique confirmation number at the end of the application process. 13. To edit your application, resume or cover letter at any time after logging out, you may go back to the site listed in Step 1 (http://www.hr.uga.edu.)
