Week 3 Differenciate betwen psychocentric and allocentric tourist. Then choose a destination with an image that matches your personality type and explain how this image pulls you to go to the destination. ALLOCENTRIC Tourists who try new things, they don't like things being organized or planned and they do not return to the same destination, they like being adventurous. They who motivate to seek and experience culture, lifestyles and landscapes where totally different from their home place and they pursue freedom without organize or plan. Tourists are people are outgoing, curious, risk taking people that enjoy learning and searching for history. They like exploring or taking exotic adventures and uncharted secluded places. They love taking risks and doing spontaneous things. For example, climbing Mount Everest, going to Africa, The South Pacific, the Canadian Arctic or Orient....doing things and going places people wouldnt usually go. MID-CENTRIC Tourists who go to places that have been popularized by the Allocentric, they are not so adventurous, neither are they afraid. Mid-centric is the majority of Tourists displaying a mix of Allocentric and Psychcentric characteristics. Prefers to be cushioned from contact with locals. PSYCHOCENTRIC Tourists who like things being planned and they are afraid to take risks, they often travel to places they are familiar with and they do not like trying new things or having vastly new experiences. The term is usually used in reference to travelers and traveling. The tourists enjoy destinations that are familiar to them; they are less likely to travel away from existing locations and are likely to only stay for a short period of time. Basically they don't like to leave their country. The Characteristics Psychocentric tourist (also called old tourist) - travels to well-known destinations - does traditional activities - package - product oriented As for me is it depending what agenda that I want to do on vacation. If I go with me spouse or my family I rather go as psychocentric tourist due to safety and easy well planning that less taking risk. If I go alone or with my friend that accepting and want some challenger or adventure I will choose as Allocentric tourist because I would enjoy, learning skill, seek adventure and experience without organize or plan what to
