People Jack and the Beanstalk Listening Speaking, Writing, reading Grammar (Nouns), Vocabulary Pupils have learnt nouns in the previous lesson.

Story telling by teacher entitled Jack and the Beanstalk

Teacher tells the story entitled Jack and The Beanstalk. Pupils listen to the story silently. Teacher selects a few pupils to name the characters in the story. Pupils name the characters available in the story.

To create interest and attracts pupils attention.

Pre-listening (15 minutes)

Description of pictures Jack and The Beanstalk

Teacher shows pupils a set of pictures of Jack and The Beanstalk. Teacher asks pupils to describe the pictures with simple words. Teacher explains to pupils the meaning of the words. Teacher asks pupils to copy the words and their meaning into their exercise books.

To widen pupils vocabulary; Poor, climb, cupboard, harp, lay.

Teaching aid: Power point slide

WhileListening (20 minutes)

Watching a video entitled Jack and The Beanstalk

Teacher plays a video and instructs the pupils to watch the video silently. Pupils watch the video. Teacher distributes worksheet 1 to the pupils and asks pupils to answer the questions on worksheet 1.

To develop listening, writing and speaking among pupils and enhance their understanding.

Teaching aid: Worksheet 1 Video

Teacher discusses the answers with pupils. Teacher selects a few pupils to do a role play based on the worksheet they have been done.

Post- listening (15 minutes)

Sharing ideas and feeling about the story.

Teacher selects a few pupils to retell and share their feelings about the story heard by answering the worksheet 1

Closure ( 5 minutes)

Hear song entitled Jack and The Beanstalk

Hear a song entitled Jack and The Beanstalk

Teacher displays the song. Teacher conclude the lesson by asks pupils the vocabulary that they have learnt in the lesson.
