TeamLuby Update Week of October 22, 2012 Spring Street School Mrs.

Lubys class

On Friday, the children checked out their pedometers and got the chance to walk around the school with themmany bounced, hopped, and jogged! Monday morning each child will reset his/her pedometer and keep it on throughout the day. There are TWO informational and recording forms in Monday folders. Each day, your child will make sure his/her pedometer is reset and ready for the day! We talked about activities that might require the pedometers to be taken off for (ex. football or gymnastics practice). This should be recorded on the sheet. We are still looking for Math Star adult volunteers for Friday afternoons 1-2 PM. At this time, we have one volunteer and we must limit the group size Anyone available weekly or biweekly? CORI required. Math Club meets Wed. 10/24 from 8-8:30 AM. We will have a quick review and look into decimals!

Fall Festival Celebration is Wed. Oct. 31 from 2-3 PM. Mrs. Mooney and team are putting together some fun activities for the class! Your child can bring a special snack for him/herself. There will be a drink/snack as well. Food permission slip is in Mondays folder. Bulb Brigade is Friday, November 2 still looking for bulbs, supplies, and parent volunteers (11:45 12:05). Maybe have lunch and recess with your child after!

Social Studies Project group work is in progress with children researching specific states for their family to live! Some live in NH, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, and NY! Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto The Rocks and Minerals assessment with be on Tuesday. The study guide should have come home with your student on last Tuesday and you can find a copy of the guided posted on the TeamLuby blog. Please let me know if you or your student has any questions. Later this week we will begin to look at the rock cycle and how each of the three categories of rocks (igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic) are formed. We will focus on our critical objects and settings this week. Math We will complete EDM Unit 3 with more algebraic number sentences, open sentences, and use of parentheses; assessment mid-week.
