More and more people are turning to direct selling as an alternative way of earning or to top up their wages. Not only is it an ideal way to start a business of your own, its entirely flexible, so can fit in with any other commitments you have. I joined Kleeneze while at college doing my A-levels, as it looked like a flexible way of earning enough money to get some driving lessons. I had always planned to go straight to university and left college with fantastic grades, however, I decided to put that on hold for a while as I very quickly saw the potential of taking time to build a substantial Kleeneze business which would then produce long term profitability and time freedom. Over the months of April, May and June I earned 5,016.07. What other job could I get right now, as a 19-year-old, where I work part-time from home earning this kind of income? My friends that went straight to university are in lots of debt already and worried about not being able to find a job when they leave. I already have money invested in savings, no debt and am excited about my future!

Recent figures show that there are now 395,000 direct sellers in the UK, 20,000 more than 2009 figures (375,000). The rise in direct sellers mirrors the recent unemployment figures which saw self-employment rise by 89,000 to a record high of 4.16million. Home selling parties now account for 27.8% of the DSAs member companies 1.4billion revenue, and are worth 390millon to the UK economy annually. By comparison in 2009, home selling parties accounted for 14% of the 1.2billion industry (177million) at the time*.

I started Kleeneze in 2007 as a single parent, because the flexibility of having a Kleeneze business suited me down to the ground. I had 2 children and wanted to work, but still be at home or them. At first it was just putting the catalogues out that appealed to me, but when I saw that worked and worked well; I turned my attention to building a team. The best thing was telling everyone who had doubted me in the first place that this business really does work! I am now married and my husband, Kevin and I, are continuing to build our team and our future. Kleeneze has changed the way I think and proved to me that if you work hard, you will get what you want.
