Elect Moulton for Shaws ANC6E02

Honest. Transparent. Active. Engaged. Responsive.

Martin has been dedicated to improving the quality of life of the Shaw neighborhood as an activist for as long as Ive known him. He has also pursued local government accountability and openness on all levels. Martin is a great advocate for the neighborhood. As a parent, I really appreciate Martins effort to ensure families around the community have access to the toddler playground at KIPP in the evenings and on the weekends. I can now count on a clean, secure place where my kids can run around and meet other children. Further, Martin offered tremendous support for us after an attempted home invasion incident. I have confidence that Martin will support the neighborhood, and the varied interests within, to ensure it is a safe, welcoming place for all. Over the past decade, Martin has done more for the Shaw community than anyone I know. From volunteering at the local elementary school to working with CityMarket at O developers, to helping establish our dog park, Martins passion, commitment and leadership is unsurpassed. We need him representing residents on the ANC.

Ive lived on 5th Street for more than 13 years and Ive never met anyone more dedicated to the continual improvement of our neighborhood. Martin not only is concerned about resolving immediate issues for neighbors but he has vision for where the community should be in the future. Thats a vision of Shaw as one of the most desirable neighborhoods to live in downtown DC!

Being well-informed, fair-minded, tenancious and compassionate are all qualities I look for in an elected official. Martin Moulton has all of these qualities and no doubt will be an exceptional ANC Commissioner!

He not been nominated for this position is one of the most tireless, engaged sooner as his behind the scenes and informed advocates Shaw has. Our mom and dad have always been excellent role models for consistent, caring dedication and active service to the community families, children, seniors (and pets) whose example my brother and I have always strived to follow.

The most recent 2010 Census confirmed that there are more women in our city than men. DC action for Children, dckids.org, suggests that nearly 40% of children in Shaw live in households headed by single women. There should be more women positioned at every level of government including in the aNC 6E02 race. There is little chance that women will be able to have sufficient input and influence in some of the bizarrely male-dominated or male-only hearings at the Wilson building and in the US Congress until we have more getting their feet wet in local offices. If elected, I hope some local women will challenge me for this seat in 2014 to help influence the conversations and keep Shaw moving forward. Until that time, I will be a good listener and do my very best to represent the shared interests of everyone in our community. mRm
