Lower MD Eastern Ocean: 4ft Severe 8" - 10"+ Bay: 2.5-3ft Severe Shore General Impacts: Rainfall - Significant flooding from rainfall is expected in coastal areas and areas inland from the Bay/coast. Mostly minor flooding expected along the I-95 corridor. Sharp decrease in rain SW of Farmville to Edenton line. Winds - Forecast wind gusts 50-60+ along the coast and Bay, 60-70+ Lower Md Eastern Shore (outside chance hurricane gust) and 40-45 mph along I-95. Areas along and even inland from the coast could experience significant trees and power lines down Sun-Tue, resulting in power outages. Winds will remain strong well into Tue. Storm Surge - Surge potential of 3-4 feet across the lower Bay, or 1.0-1.5 ft. below Hurricane Irene, but close to the Ash Wed Storm of 1962. Severe coastal flooding LIKELY along the entire coast from NC to MD with a 4-4.5 ft surge (rivals Isabel south/Gloria on MD coast). Moderate flooding is expected along the Peninsulas and Northern Neck. MD Bay counties & bay side Accomack could experience a prolonged period of moderate to low end severe flooding. Highest potential is through mid afternoon Mon (ocean) and today through Tue (bay). Waves - 15 ft+ waves (coast) and 6-9ft (Bay) will result in significant beach erosion.
