Dont Let the Pesticide Companies Buy Your Vote!

The worlds largest pesticide companies - including Monsanto, who produced Agent Orange and DDT, are spending One Million Dollars a Day on TV ads to confuse Californians about Proposition 37 - a label that will give us the right to know whether the food we buy contains genetically engineered ingredients (GMOs). NO ON 37 CAUGHT IN THE ACT
Criminal Investigation of no on Prop 37 campaign underway for misuse of FDA Seal and Fabricated FDA Quote A no on Prop 37 TV ad had to be yanked because it falsely identied Dr. Henry Miller as a Stanford doctor. A few days later their mailer made the same deceptive claim. No on Prop 37 misquoted the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (worlds largest organization for food and nutrition professionals) in the California Ofcial Voter Information Guide. The organization HAS NEVER stated that biotech foods are safe.

READ THE FACTS ABOUT PROP 37 HERE:

Prop 37 would require labeling of most processed and packaged foods that contain Genetically Engineered (GE) ingredients and pet foods that contain GE ingredients like corn and soy. 61 other countries label (GE) foods, and they all have some common exemptions. Prop 37 exempts products that have no ingredient labels, such as restaurant food and alcohol. By CA law a ballot initiative cannot cover more than one subject Prop 37 would label meat, dairy, and eggs from animals that have been genetically engineered (GE) themselves. But, because livestock fed GE grain are not genetically engineered, the meat, dairy, and eggs coming from them will not be covered. For more info: carighttoknow.org/exemptions) Labeling didnt raise the cost of food in 61 countries when they started labeling their GE foods. Businesses regularly print new labels. Dont listen to the scare tactics of the biotech industry. There are no incentives for lawsuits: Lawyers cant make big money from Prop 37, so claims about shakedown lawsuits make no sense whatsoever. And there will be no need for lawsuits. Companies will label for genetic engineering just like they label for calories and fat. California Farmers are FOR Prop 37: Thousands of California Farmers, all major natural and sustainable food businesses and all the leading labor groups - are saying YES ON 37
ARE YOU EATING THEM? PROBABLY! Common GMO food crops are corn(85%), soy(91%), sugar beets (95%), canola (90%). Most processed foods contain hidden GE ingredients such as corn syrup, soy lecithin, citric acid, sugar (unless specied as cane sugar) go to: nongmoShoppingGuide.com. WITHOUT LABELS, HOW CAN WE KNOW?

WHAT IS A GMO? GMO = Genetically Modied Organism. The process of creating GMOs is called Genetic Engineering (GE). DNA from one species is injected into the DNA of a completely different species, creating novel combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes, (as nature never intended!)

Why are Some Newspapers Falling for Oppositions Claims?

Because 25 or more CA newspapers are owned by just three corporations who rely heavily on advertising revenue from processed food companies who oppose Prop 37. Some of these papers editorial boards copied paragraphs directly from the No on 37 press releases instead of seeking the truth. In contrast, many independent newspapers are endorsing Prop 37. Who do you believe? Industryfunded or independent media?

GE Salmon Coming! Currently, there are no genetically engineered animals in the human food supply, but the rst one - a GE salmon, is on its way to our dinner plates. Without Prop 37, it will be unlabeled.

Example: Monsantos Bt corn. DNA from a bacteria Bt (bacillus thuringiensis), a pesticide that kills insects, is engineered into the corn - which then produces pesticides in every cell of the plant. When a worm eats the Bt corn, its stomach breaks open and it dies. WHAT IS IT DOING TO US?
