TerriMichal,aHuntsvilleresidentwhoorganizedtoday'sprotest,saidshethinksthe schooldistrictisnotdoingenoughtoensurestudents'safetyoncampus. "Ijustthinkthesuperintendentisoutoftouchwithhowdangerousitisinthe schools,"Michalsaidthismorning. Michalsaidthatthegirl'smotherhadpreviouslyrequestedatransferforherdaughter sothegirlcouldgotoschoolwithhersister,whoisinamagnetprogramatLeeHigh School.Thattransferwasdenied. AftertheSept.17incident,inwhichthegirlallegedlysufferedbruisedribs,themother againappliedforatransfer,thistimeforsafety. Thattransfer,too,wasatfirstdenied,Michalsaid.
