An expected result as Milan school board newcomer Kerri Moccio joins incumbent John Leacher on the board after winning Tuesdays general election, according to unofficial election results posted early Wednesday. Leacher, current board president, and Moccio, who will take Trustee Diane Hovatters seat after Hovatter chose not to seek re-election, will sit for a six-year term. Both were uncontested. Moccio said she hopes to continue Hovatters tireless service to the community.

Milan school district voters returned John Leacher to the Milan school board and elected Kerri Moccio.
John Stanowski knew Tuesday was going to be a special day when the polls opened. It made my heart jump to see 300 cars at the Tri-County Sportsman League, he said about the polling station on Moon Road, where two of the townships three precincts vote. It did my heart good as an American. Stanowski defeated Deputy Clerk
Joan Alexander, garnering nearly 61 percent of the vote for supervisor. He credited the support of his primary opponent, Chuck Tellas, with his win in November. Tellas called him the day after the primary and offered his full support. We consolidated our votes, Stanowski said. On the trustee front, newcomer Brian Iott collected the most votes with 1,664 (22.15 percent), followed by Jill Hargrove at 1,645 (21.9), Jane Kartje was third with 1,577 (20.99) and Dan Pichla 1,498 (19.94). Democrat Gary Zajac finished fifth with 1,122 (14.94), according to unofficial election results. I am happy my team. Brian and Dan won, Stanowski said. Weve got a good team and we have a good
opportunity to work with the others. Stanowski wants everyone to know that though people voted along party lines, now that the race is over, when people come to the township hall with a problem, they are York Township residents first. I represent all my neighbors in York Township, he said. Alexander could not be reached for comment. Iott, a newcomer to the board, was excited not only about winning, but gaining the top spot for votes and for Stanowskis win, as well. This is a great success for York Township, Iott said. Kartje was grateful to the voters for electing her to another term. She said was ready to continue her policy
