Chao Family
Cory & Bethany Falde have been around our Savannah community since 2006 and are here for another year while Cory is in school. Cory and Evan Staph are leading a new small group at AASU. Pray for them as they learn the basics of disciple-making and leadership through their personal ministry on-campus. Luke Calvert recently transferred here from Ft Benning, GA. He is already a commi ed laborer and over the past few years has go en some excellent training from other leaders in our network. Luke is a pilot in the 3CAB (Combat Avia on Brigade) at Hunter AAF and will deploy at the end of this year. Although busy with his job, Luke has pulled a small team together for ministry and mutual encouragement. Pray for Luke, Gabe, and Ben as they build their team in prepara on for deployment and reach out to their coworkers. Rachel von Minden has been involved with the Navigators since college and moved here in 2007 to help the young women in our group. Pray for clear direc on and fresh vision for Rachel as she nishes nursing school and moves into a new season of life. John & Sarah Kreitzer, our long me friends and partners who lead the Navigator team at Ft Stewart, will be taking an ac ve role in coaching and training the leaders in Savannah a er we leave. Rose and I will also be coaching and encouraging these leaders with phone calls and personal visits. However, the bulk of the local work will be done by the leaders men oned above and the other laborers on the team. Pray for the transi on taking place in Savannah and the growth of the local leaders there.

Why San Diego?

God has put on our heart to establish vibrant disciple-making communi es in strategic places that will serve as a gateway for the gospel to spread into the na ons. San Diego is one of these places. The San Diego area is a hub for the U.S. Navys Pacic eet and is home to over 100,000 ac ve-duty Navy and Marine personnel. We believe that just as An och was a gateway to the Roman Empire by reaching and equipping disciples and sending out missionary teams in the rst century (Acts 11 & 13), so the U.S. military will be a gateway to the na ons in our mea place where young people are reached, equipped, and sent out. San Diego also has great poten al beyond the military as a natural gateway for the message of Jesus to ow beyond our na ons borders because of the demographic es to La n America, Asia, and the Pacic Islands. Our goal is to establish communi es among Navy personnel in places like San Diego where people come to Christ, are established in their faith, and are trained to live as missionaries within the military and throughout their lives. Then as God transforms the lives of people in and around these communi es, we hope this movement will expand into other parts of the military, the U.S., and beyond!

The Next Generation

Recently I wrote to you about an exci ng decision we made to transfer to San Diego, CA and join a team of fellow disciple-makers in pioneering a movement of the gospel among the US Navy. A er seven years of learning and ministering among soldiers, students, and civilians in Savannah, we are leaving this community in the hands of local leadership and moving to San Diego in September. Here are the names and faces of some of the people who will lead the Savannah community a er we depart. Andrew & Amber Kay Palmer have been involved with us since 2008 when they were freshmen at AASU. They are leading a small group together in their apartment and training another young couple on our team. Pray that God would send spiritually hungry people their way and for their encouragement and growth as they lead a young ministry team. Nathan & Meghan Averill are about to get married as I am wri ng this le er. Both are working and going to school in addi on to partnering with us. Nathan is leading a small group on-campus at AASU with Cody (a new member of our team). Pray for their new marriage, the frui ulness of their outreach on-campus, and for their naviga ng a busy season of life this year. John Ashley has been involved with us since 2006. He is currently leading the Man Zone guys ministry house along with Evan Staph (see December newsle er). Pray that John would have fresh vision and encouragement as he leads the team living at Man Zone.

What are our nancial needs? Our biggest need right now is for monthly nancial support over the next 12 months. Some of our nancial partners in Savannah will be giving elsewhere a er we leave so they can con nue to support the local community in Savannah. We are also moving to an area of increased cost of livinghousing alone is about $1,000 per month more than it is in Savannah. All things considered we need to raise an addi onal $4,500 per month for our rst year in San Diego. If you are not already, would you prayerfully consider giving toward this need with a gi of $50, $100, or $200 per month for the next 12 months? More info about how to give is at: thechaofamily.com/give Thanks in advance for joining with us in your prayers and giving!
