A student carries out an experiment to determine the relationship between the object distance, u and the image distance, v for a convex lens. The student uses different values of object distance, u and record the corresponding image distance, v when a sharp and clear image is formed on a screen situated some distance way. The result are used to plot graph of as shown in Figure 1. Seorang pelajar menjalankan eksperimen untuk mengkaji hubungan antara jarak objek, u dan jarak imej, v bagi kanta cembung. Figure 2 show two opaque glasses, X and Y, containing different amounts of water. When a coin is observed from the same position, the image of the coin in glass X can be seen but the image of the coin in glass Y cannot be seen. Rajah 2 menunjukkan 2 gelas opak, X dan Y mengandungi isipadu air yang berbeza. Apabila syiling diperhatikan pada kedudukan yang sama, imej syiling pada gelas X boleh dilihat manakala imej syiling pada gelas Y tidak kelihatan.

1. The apparatus is arranged as shown above. 2. The real depth of water is measured and fixed at 0.1 m. 3. The apparent depth of water/position of image of the thick line is measured using pin and metre rule. 4. The experiment is repeated 4 times using real depth of 0.2 m, 0.3 m, 0.4 m and 0.5 m.
