CIAA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK WSSU Jameze Massey, Sr., Wide Receiver Had 6 receptions for 115 yards and three TDs in championship game win over Elizabeth City State. Also had one punt return for 32 yards and three kickoff returns for 73 yards. ECSU Brad Davis, Sr., Defensive End' Had four sacks, one including a strip and fumble recovery for a TD in championship game loss to WSSU.
MEAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK OFFENSE Travis Tarpley, Sr., WR, DELSTATE - 6 receptions for 171 yards and two touchdowns (83, 48), 212 all-purpose yards in win over Hampton. Also had 107 receiving yards including a 74-yard TD reception in championship game win over Fort Valley State. Finished with 331 all-purpose yards. DEFENSE William Buford, Sr., DB, TUSKEGEE - 8 tackles, 6 solos, 1 tackle for loss and one intereption returned 50 yards for a TD in championship game win over Fort Valley State.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (9-2, 7-1) closes out the regular season at home Saturday vs. Prairie View A&M (3-7, 3-5). UAPB has wins over both of the East Division contenders. The Golden Lions beat Alabama State 24-21 on Sept. 20 and knocked off Jackson State 34-24 on Oct. 6. MEAC Bethune-Cookman and head coach Brian Jenkins clinched their second MEAC title and automatic FCS playoff berth in the past three seasons with its 49-7 win over Savannah State

The Wildcats (8-2, 7-0) will look to complete an undefeated conference record when it closes out the regular season schedule with its annual showdown in Orlando Saturday (2 p.m.) vs. in-state rival Florida A&M. The Rattlers (4-6, 4-3) are coming off a 22-21 win over N. C. Central Saturday in their rst game under interim head coach Earl Holmes. Holmes replaced Joe Taylor who announced two weeks ago that he was retiring at the end of the season but stepped down last week. NCCU. Howard and Delaware State enter the nal games of the regular season Saturday tied and in a battle for second in the MEAC with 5-2 records. Howard and DelState meet in Washington, D. C. at 1 p.m. and NCCU hosts North Carolina A&T (6-4, 4-3) in Durham, N. C. at 2 p.m.
Defending two-time CIAA champion Winston-Salem State got a regional top seed and Miles and Fort Valley State of the SIAC also received berths in the 24-team NCAA Div. II Football Championship eld that was announced Sunday afternoon. WSSU (11-0), the No. 1 team all season n the BCSP Top Ten, won its second straight CIAA championship 34-19 Saturday over Elizabeth City State and received the top seed in Super Region I. The undefeated Rams will have a bye thru the Nov. 17 rst round and will play the winner of the game between 4th-seed Shippensburg (10-1) and 5th-seed Bloomsburg (10-1) on Nov. 24 in Winston-Salem. New Haven (10-0), the second seed in Super Region I, also gets a rst-round bye and hosts the winner of the rst-round game between 3rd-seed Indiana (Pa.) (10-1) and 6thseed Shepherd (8-2) on Nov. 24. Winston-Salem State beat New Haven 27-7 last season in the Super Region I nal to earn a spot in the national seminals. WSSU lost to
eventual national runner-up Wayne State (21-14) in the seminals. Miles (8-2), who was the top ranked team in Super Region II before losing to Tuskegee to close out the regular season, is seeded fth in the region and will play at fourth-seed West Alabama (8-3) this Saturday. Fort Valley State (8-3), the SIAC runner-up, is seeded sixth in the region and will play at 3rd-seed Lenoir-Rhyne (8-2) Saturday. The Miles/West Alabama winner will play at top-seed Valdosta State (8-2) and the FVSU/L-R winner will travel to 2nd-seed Carson-Newman (8-2) on Nov. 24. The Div. II Championship Game is scheduled for Florence, Alabama on Dec. 15.
Hampton, VA Two-time champion Winston-Salem State swept nearly all the top awards as the CIAA announed its outstanding players for the 2012 football season. WSSU quarterback Kameron Smith leads the offense and was voted the offensive player of the year. Smith completed 170 of 280 passes (60.7%, 2710 yds.) and leads the conference with 37 touchdown passes. WSSU linebacker Carlos Fields, Jr. was named the defensive player of the year after nishing with 69 total tackles (38 solo, 31 assisted) and six tackles-for-losses. Saint Augustine's Tyron Laughinghouse is the special teams player of the year. Laughinghouse leads the conference for total yards in both punt and kick returns with a total of 14 kick returns for 562 yards and 12 punt returns for 184 yards with four touchdowns. The players of the year and all-Conference rst team were formally recognized at the CIAA Football Championship Luncheon on Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley. :
