SWAC East title left to be decided

LUT WILLIAMS Champions have been crowned in every conference except the SWAC and the nal participant in its championship game will be determined this Saturday. Jackson State (6-4, 6-2) needs a win on the road Saturday (1 p.m.) over Alcorn State to clinch the East Division title and a spot opposite West Division winner Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the Dec. 8 Championship Game at Birmingham's Legion Field. With a win, JSU would be tied with Alabama State at 7-2 in the conference play but the Tigers would win the division title because they own a 37-34 win over ASU in their headto-head meeting on Oct. 13th. A JSU loss to Alcorn gives the division title and championship game berth to the Hornets. The Alcorn State/Jackson State game was played for the past 18 years in Jackson, Ms. and dubbed the Capital City Classic. But Alcorn ofcials announced in July that the game would return to the Alcorn campus and to a home-andhome series. In an up-and-down season, Alcorn State (4-6. 4-4) and rst-year head coach Jay Hopson have big wins in conference play over Grambling, Southern and Alabama A&M and will look to spoil the JSU party. JSU is riding a four-game winning streak that began when quarterback Clayton Moore was inserted as the starter. In wins over Alabama State, Mississippi Valley State, Grambling and last week's 35-21 win over Alabama A&M, Moore has averaged over 224 passing yards per game while JSU scored 34.5 points per game. Moore has six TDs and four picks over those games. Moore has also rushed for 539 yards and 10 TDs on the season. Rico Richardson has been his primary target. The senior wideout

Henton (18-38-3, 274 yards) did hook up with RB Travis Richmond on a 62-yard TD that put the Wildcats up 15-13 in the second period. Richmond, who later scored on a 12-yard run,0 nished with 100 rushing yards on 13 carries. Lucas's pick and score came after Richmond's score and gave Tuskegee a 20-15 lead at the break.
