PAWEES 2012 International Conference on Challenges of Water & Environmental Management in Monsoon Asia

Aims and Scope


The objective is to provide a platform for researchers, scientists, practitioners, and policy makers to share and present new advances, research findings, perspectives, and experiences in Paddy and Water Environment and related disciplines. Special attentions will be given to developing certain skills or competence, or general upgrading of performance ability for climate change adaptation, participatory irrigation and environmental management, and sustainable development in irrigation and drainage in the monsoon Asia. The conference will bring together leading researchers, engineers, scientists, and officials in the domain of interest from around the world topics of the conference are: Climate Change and Uncertainty Participatory Management for Irrigation Projects Emerging Technologies in Water Management Environmental Sustainability in Paddy Irrigation and Drainage

Language
The official language of the conference will be English. All abstracts, papers and posters should be submitted in English.

Loy Krathong Day is one of the most popular festivals of Thailand celebrated annually on the Full-Moon Day of the Twelfth Lunar Month. It takes place at a time when the weather is fine as the rainy season is over and there is a high water level all over the country.

Transportation
Participants can go to hotel from Suvarnabhumi International Airport (http://www.suvarnabhumiairport.com) either by public taxi or by hotel limousines. By hotel limousines: please contact hotel for transportation fare, schedule and reservation services. If participants will stay in the central Bangkok area, please take a taxi and it takes about 60 min. to reach the venue via expressway.

Visas
An application for Thailand Entry Visas should be made at least 3-4 months in advance. All participants or visitors are required to have both a passport with validity of at least six months upon entry and a visa to enter Thailand. 1. List of countries NOT requiring visa: (Tourist VISA exemption) Passport holders from 41 countries and 1 special administrative region - Hong Kong SAR - are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period of not exceeding 30 days on each visit. If such foreigners enter the Kingdom at the immigration checkpoints which border neighboring countries, they will be allowed to stay for 15 days each time, except Malaysian nationals who cross the borderline from Malaysia whose granted period of stay will not exceed 30 days each time. Foreigners entering Thailand under the Tourist Visa Exemption category must possess adequate finances for the duration of stay in Thailand (i.e., cash 10,000 Baht per person and 20,000 Baht per family).
