Exercise 1 Complete the OEM Installation Process


Scenario
You or your customer will probably receive a server from an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) with Windows SBS 2003 R2 preinstalled. Completing setup of Windows SBS 2003 R2 is very easy and it only takes a few short steps. Throughout the installation process, Setup provides default values that are typical for a small business. It is recommended that you accept these values. However, if you wish to change a default value, click the More Information on the Setup page to review information about changing the default. Tasks Complete the following task on: SBS 03 R2 OEM 1. Complete the OEM Installation Process Detailed Steps Note: You begin the OEM Windows Setup by accepting the terms of the license agreement. a. Switch to the SBS 03 R2 OEM server. b. On the Welcome page, click Next. c. Once you have read and accepted the terms of the license agreement for Windows, select I accept this agreement and click Next. d. On the Regional and Language Options page, click Customize to configure the way numbers, currencies, dates, and times are formatted. e. If you have made any changes on the Regional Options, Languages, or Advanced tabs, click OK to apply your settings. Otherwise, click Cancel to accept the default settings and return to Windows Setup. f. When you are finished with the Regional and Language Options page, click Next. g. On the Personalize Your Software page, enter the following values: In the Name field, type John Woods. In the Organization field, type Wingtip Toys.

h. Click Next to continue. i. On the Your Product Key page, enter the following product key: HX988HJB9B-TM472-PV8V6-36F98; click Next to continue. j. On the Date and Time Settings page, select the correct date and time. k. Select your time zone. l. Ensure that the Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes check box is selected, and click Next. m. On the Networking Settings page, wait while the networking components are configured. This could take a few minutes to complete. n. On the Company Information page, enter the following values: In the Phone number field, type 425-555-0123. In the Fax number field, type 425-555-0124. In the Address field, type 456 Front Street. In the City field, type Redmond. In the State/Province field, type WA.

Enter pass@word1 for the administrator password. r. Confirm the administrator password by entering pass@word1 again. s. Click Next. t. On the Internal Domain Information page, ensure that the Full DNS name for internal domain field shows wingtiptoys.local. Note: SBS 2003 R2 setup will automatically create an Active Directory directory service domain. u. Ensure the Domain NETBIOS name field displays WINGTIPTOYS, and click Next. v. On the Local Network Adapter Information page, you should see two entries in the list for Intel 21140-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (Generic). Ensure that the first one is selected and then click Next. w. On the Local Network Adapter Configuration page, accept the default settings for the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway, and click Next. Note: The system configuration process will begin at this point. For the purposes of this lab, it is not necessary to wait for the system configuration process to complete. Turn off the Virtual Machine and discard changes. In the Zip/Postal Code field, type 51390. In the Country/Region list, select United States.

Exercise 2 Perform Initial Small Business Server Configuration Tasks


Scenario
Whether you perform a full installation or complete an OEM installation as you did in the previous task, you must configure the server computer to enable the features and services designed to power your small business network. After the server installation is complete, Windows SBS 2003 R2 provides a single interface to perform server configuration tasks. This interface is called the To Do List. The To Do List appears at the end of Setup and assists you in completing the configuration of Windows SBS 2003 R2. It guides you through all post-installation tasks necessary to get the network up and running, such as configuration and management of the server services, peripheral devices, users, and client computers. The To Do List also includes links to extensive help for all of the steps. In this exercise, you will launch the To Do List and perform the first several tasks outlined. Tasks Complete the following 4 tasks on: SBS 03 R2 RTM 1. Connect to the Server and Start the To Do List Detailed Steps a. Switch to the SBS 03 R2 RTM Server (HOL-1) Virtual Machine b. Login to the server with the following credentials: Username: Administrator Password: pass@word1

c. The Server Management console will launch automatically. Select To Do List in the left navigation pane. The To Do List will be displayed in the right pane of the console. d. Under Network Tasks, click View Security Best Practices. e. Once you have reviewed the information provided in the help file, close the help window to return to the To Do List. f. Select the Done check box for the View Security Best Practices task.

2. Configure the

Network and Web Services

Note: The next task on the To Do List is to connect the small business network to the Internet. Note: SBS 2003 R2 supports many Internet connection methods, including dial-up and high-speed. SBS 2003 R2 also supports the use of one or two network interface cards (NICs). When two NICs are used, SBS 2003 R2 acts as the central point for Internet connections to deliver optimal network performance and to help enforce network security. Note: Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 is also configured as part of the wizard. SBS 2003 R2 supports a number of alternative methods for accessing e-mail, ranging from basic SMTP delivery to the use of more sophisticated clients like Microsoft Outlook Web Access. In addition, mail store size limits in Windows SBS 2003 R2 have been increased from 16 GB to 75 GB, so users can work with rich-media mail types and document attachments. Note: Remote Web Workplace enables users to access important features of SBS 2003 R2 when they are away from the office. Using Remote Web Workplace, authorized users can check e-mail and calendars, connect to their computers at work, use shared applications, or access the company's internal Web site. Note: In this task, you will complete the Configure E-Mail and Internet Connection Wizard to connect SBS 2003 R2 to the Internet for outbound Web traffic, inbound and outbound e-mail, and remote access services.

On the Welcome to the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard page click Next. c. On the Connection Type page, select the Broadband option and then click Next. d. On the Broadband Connection page, from the My server uses dropdown list, select A direct broadband connection and then click Next. e. On the Network Connection page, ensure that ISP network connection is set to External Network Connection and that Local Network Connection is set to Internal Network Connection. Click Next. f. On the Direct Broadband Connection page, accept the default Preferred DNS Server address, and leave the Alternate DNS Server address field blank. Click Next to continue. g. On the Firewall page, ensure the Enable firewall option is selected, and then click Next. h. On the Services Configuration page, check E-Mail and Terminal Services, and click Next. i. On the Web Services Configuration page, ensure that the Allow access to only the following Web site services from the Internet option is selected. j. Check the boxes next to the following Web site services: Outlook Web Access, Remote Web Workplace, Server performance and usage reports, Outlook Mobile Access, Outlook via the Internet, Windows SharePoint Services intranet site and Business Web site (wwwroot) and then click Next. k. On the Web Server Certificate page, ensure that Create a new Web server certificate is selected. l. In the Web server name field, type www.wingtiptoys.com and then click Next. m. On the Internet E-mail page, ensure that the Enable Internet e-mail option is selected, and then click Next. n. On the E-mail Delivery Method page, ensure that the Use DNS to route e-mail option is selected, and then click Next. o. On the E-mail Retrieval Method page, ensure that the Use Exchange check box is selected. p. Ensure that the E-mail is delivered directly to my server option is selected, and then click Next. q. On the E-mail Domain Name page, type wingtiptoys.com in the E-mail domain name field, and then click Next. r. On the Remove E-mail Attachments page, ensure the Enable Exchange Server to remove Internet e-mail attachments that have the following extensions check box is selected. s. Ensure that the check boxes are selected next to any attachment types that are likely to contain executable code that may be considered a threat, such as exe, ade, adp, app, and bas. Click Next. t. On the final Configure E-Mail and Internet Connection Wizard completion page, review the actions listed in the summary. Then click Finish. u. The server configuration process will begin. When the configuration process has completed successfully, click Close. v. A dialog box will appear that asks whether you want to enable password policies. Click No. w. Click OK on the dialog box that indicates your server is now connected to the

The Internet Connection Wizard will now open Microsoft Internet Explorer and connect to the Downloads for Windows Small Business Server 2003 page. Close Internet Explorer to return to the To Do List. y. Select the Done check box for the Connect to the Internet task.
3. Activate the Server

Note: The next task on the To Do List that you will complete is to activate the server. Note: You must activate your server after completing Setup. Product activation is required and ensures that each Windows product is not installed on more than the limited number of computers (usually one) allowed in the end-user license agreement (EULA). Activation is also required to ensure that core services function properly. Note: To accommodate the lab environment, this server has already been activated. In a newly installed server, you would be able to click through the Activate Your Server wizard. a. Under Network Tasks, click Activate Your Server. b. Click OK to close the Activate Your Server page and return to the To Do List. c. Select the Done check box for the Activate Your Server task.

4. Add Additional

Client Licenses

Note: A client access license (CAL) provides a client computer with the legal right to access a computer running Microsoft SBS 2003 R2 and the services supported by that server. Note: The default installation of your server includes five CALs. If you have more than five client computers, you must purchase and activate additional CALs for the client computers to access the server. Note: It is not necessary to activate the five CALs that are included with the default installation of Windows Small Business Server. Note: SBS 2003 R2 has expanded CAL rights over earlier versions of Small Business Server. These expanded rights entitle you to access additional servers in your network (such as Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition, and Windows Server 2003), saving you money and offering you more flexibility in growth. a. Under the Network Tasks section of the To Do List, click Add Additional Client Licenses. b. On the Welcome to the Add License Wizard page, click Next. c. On the License Agreement page, review the Microsoft Client Access License Agreement and select I agree. Click Next. Note: Normally, at this point you would input contact information and a CAL License Code to complete the addition of client licenses. Due to the lab environment, you will terminate the wizard and move on. d. Click Cancel to exit the wizard and return to the To Do List. e. Select the Done check box for the Add Additional Client Licenses task.

Exercise 3 Complete the Server Configuration


Scenario
A series of additional management tasks is required to complete the server configuration from the To Do List. Depending upon your network and your environment, you may or may not need to execute these tasks for your network. In this task, you will complete the SBS 2003 R2 server configuration by adding a network printer, adding users and computers, configuring fax services, configuring server monitoring and reporting, and configuring the server backup. Tasks Complete the following 6 tasks on: SBS 03 R2 RTM 1. Add a Printer Detailed Steps Note: Complete this task on the To Do List to install and configure a network printer. a. Under Management Tasks in the To Do List, click Add a Printer. b. On the Welcome to the Add Printer Wizard page, click Next. c. On the Local or Network Printer page, ensure that the Local printer attached to this computer option is selected. Clear the check box next to Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play Printer, and then click Next. Note: Depending upon your network configuration, you may be able to use the automatic detection feature for the discovery and addition of printers. d. On the Select a Printer Port page, ensure that Use the following port is selected and that LPT1 is selected in the drop down list. Click Next. e. On the Install Printer Software page, select HP from the Manufacturer list and select HP OfficeJet V45 from the Printers list. Click Next. f. On the Name Your Printer page, accept the default value of HP OfficeJet V45, and then click Next. g. On the Printer Sharing page, ensure that Share name option is selected and accept the default share name of HPOffice. Click Next. h. On the Location and Comment page, type Copy Room in the Location field, and type HP OfficeJet in the Comment field. Click Next. i. On the Print Test Page page, select No and then click Next. j. On the Completing the Add Printer Wizard page, review the settings. and then click Finish. When the wizard is finished adding the printer, it will automatically close and return you to the To Do List. k. Select the Done check box for the Add a Printer task.
2. Add Users and

Computers to the Server

Note: You must complete this task to configure user accounts and client computer settings. As part of the operating system configuration, Setup installs Active Directory and promotes the computer to a domain controller. This creates your Windows Small Business Server domain. Note: Active Directory is a directory service that catalogs information about all the objects (such as users, groups, and client computers) on a network and distributes that information throughout the network. Active Directory gives network users access to permitted resources anywhere on the network using a single logon process. It also provides a consistent way to name, describe, locate, access, manage, and secure information about these individual resources. Additionally, Active Directory assists administrators with management tasks by providing a unified, logical view of the

After you provide user account information, the Set Up Computer Wizard allows you to configure a client computer for new users. Active Directory is also a requirement for installing several server applications. a. Under Management Tasks, click Add Users and Computers. b. On the Welcome to the Add User Wizard page, click Next. c. On the Template Selection page, select Administrator Template from the Templates list, and then click Next. d. On the User Information page, click Add. e. Create the user account with the following information: f. Click OK. g. Click Next. h. On the Set Up Client Computers page, ensure that Set up computers now is selected and then click Next. i. On the Client Computer Names page, accept the default name of john01 and click Next. j. On the Client Applications page, accept the default selected applications and then click Next. k. On the Mobile Client and Offline Use page, select the check boxes for Install Connection Manager and Install ActiveSync 3.8. Click Next. l. A dialog box will appear indicating that the Remote Access Wizard has not been run on the server. Click OK. m. On the Completing the Add User Wizard page, review the tasks to be preformed and then click Finish. n. Click OK on the Finishing Your Installation dialog box. o. Click Close on the Add User Wizard completion page. p. When prompted to run the wizard again, click Yes. q. On the Welcome to the Add User Wizard page, click Next. r. On the Template Selection page, select Mobile User Template and then click Next. s. On the User Information page, click Add t. Create the user account with the following information: First name: Mindy Last name: Martin Logon name: mindy E-mail alias: mindy Telephone: 425-555-0123 Password: pass@word1 Page 8 of 12 First name: John Last name: Woods Logon name: john E-mail alias: john Telephone: 425-555-0123 Password: pass@word1

On the Set Up Client Computers page, ensure that Set up computers now is selected and then click Next. x. On the Client Computer Names page, accept the default name of mindy01 and click Next. y. On the Client Applications page, accept the default selected applications and then click Next. z. On the Mobile Client and Offline Use page, select the check boxes for Install Connection Manager and Install ActiveSync 3.8, and then click Next. aa. A dialog box will appear indicating that the Remote Access Wizard has not been run on the server. Click OK. bb. On the Completing the Add User Wizard page, review the tasks to be preformed and then click Finish. cc. Click OK on the Finishing Your Installation dialog box. dd. Click Close on the Add User Wizard completion page. ee. When prompted to run the wizard again, click No to return to the To Do List. ff. Select the Done check box for the Add Users and Computers task.
3. Configure Fax

Note: Through the Microsoft Shared Fax Service in SBS 2003 R2, the server can be configured to automatically route print jobs to your central printer, and incoming faxes can be digitized and delivered directly to recipients via Windows SharePoint Services, e-mail, or a network printer. Note: If you have a fax modem, complete this task to configure the Shared Fax Service for sending and receiving faxes. The updated Shared Fax Service supports fax boards, ISDN cards, and broadcast faxes. a. Under Management Tasks, click Configure Fax. b. On the Welcome to the Fax Configuration Wizard page, click Next. c. On the Provide Company Information page, accept the default values and click Next. d. On the Outbound Fax Device page, click Next. A dialog box will appear warning that no fax device is selected for sending faxes. Click Yes. e. On the Inbound Fax Device page, click Next. A dialog box will appear warning that no fax device is selected for receiving faxes. Click Yes. f. On the Completing the Fax Configuration Wizard page, click Finish to return to the To Do List. g. Select the Done check box for the Configure Fax task.

4. Configure

Monitoring and Reporting

Note: SBS 2003 R2 provides enhanced tools that enable technology consultants and business owners to monitor server activity and receive performance and usage reports in e-mail or online. The monitoring and reporting tools can be used to ensure that the server remains healthy and can help reduce downtime by enabling you to respond quickly when issues arise. These tools help increase business productivity and customer satisfaction. Note: The Monitoring Configuration Wizard sets up alert notifications and server performance and usage reports. It also configures application logging. You can choose to receive performance and usage statistics reports on a scheduled basis and receive immediate alerts when an issue arises on the server. SBS 2003 R2 can also be configured to automatically send an alert when a service is stopped, when a performance counter threshold is exceeded, or when a critical event appears in the

Installing and Configuring the Server Computer Tasks Detailed Steps Event Log. Note: Performance reports provide information about the general health of the server. The reports include Health Monitor alerts and critical event log entries from the previous 24 hours. They also include summary information about important performance counters and the top five processes that are consuming memory. Usage reports for business owners provide detailed information about employee Internet, email, and fax usage. Business owners can view usage statistics reports on a securityenhanced Web page on their intranet. Note: Windows SBS 2003 R2 integrates with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) to provide enhanced system and software health reports. In addition, the Premium edition of SBS 2003 R2 offers a powerful, integrated data management and reporting solution using data stored in Microsoft SQL Server 2005. a. Under Management Tasks, click Configure Monitoring. b. On the Welcome to the Monitoring Configuration Wizard page, click Next. c. On the Reporting Options page, select the check boxes for Receive a daily performance report in e-mail, View the usage report in Server Management, and Receive a usage report in e-mail every other week. Click Next. d. On the E-mail Options page, type the following two e-mail addresses into the email address field, separated by a semicolon: administrator@wingtiptoys.com and john@wingtiptoys.com. e. Click Next. f. On the Business Owner Usage Report page, select John Woods from the All users list. Click Add. g. Click Next to continue. h. On the Alerts page, select the Send me notification of performance alerts by email check box. Ensure that the e-mail addresses for Administrator and John are displayed in the E-mail address field, and then click Next. i. On the Completing the Monitoring Configuration Wizard page, review the tasks to be completed and then click Finish to close the wizard. j. Click Close on the Monitoring Configuration Wizard completion page to return to the To Do List. k. Select the Done check box for the Configure Monitoring task.
5. Configure Backup

Note: SBS 2003 R2 provides a reliable way to perform regular server backups to a tape drive, an external hard drive, or a network share. After a system failure, you can restore your server from your latest successful backup. You can use the Backup Configuration Wizard to configure storage for individual files and e-mail messages, so that they can be restored in the event they are permanently deleted, without restoring the entire server. You can also configure backup of your company Web site, so that you can easily restore files and list items to the site. Note: In this task, you will follow the steps in the Backup Configuration Wizard to easily configure your backup. a. Under the Management Tasks section of the To Do List, click Configure Backup. b. On the Welcome to the Windows Small Business Server Backup Configuration Wizard page, click Next. c. On the Backup Location page, click Browse. Click Make New Folder, and create a folder named E:\Backup. Select the folder you just created, click OK, and then click Next. d. On the Backup Data Summary page, accept the default values and then click

On the Define Backup Schedule page, ensure that the check boxes for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are selected. Accept the default time and number of copies to maintain and click Next. f. On the Storage Allocation for Deleted Files and E-mail page, accept the default values and click Next. g. On the Completing the Windows Small Business Server Backup Configuration Wizard page, review backup settings and then click Finish. h. Click Close on the Backup Configuration Wizard completion page to return to the To Do List. i. Select the Done check box for the Configure Backup task.
6. Configure Windows

Server Update Services

Note: The last task in this Lab (not shown in the To Do List) is to configure Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). WSUS in SBS 2003 R2 is a new feature that centralizes update and patch management services onto one server. It stores the patch files in its own database, so the patches only have to be downloaded from the Internet once. Instead of each employee downloading software from Windows Update or Microsoft Update manually on each individuals computer, updates are stored on WSUS and then automatically pushed out to each computer. Note: Most important, WSUS deploys patches and software updates to computers and servers on your network. WSUS creates a daily report indicating successfully deployed updates with a green check and detailing which updates may have additional installation requirements. Note: Default settings for WSUS are already optimized for Windows SBS 2003 R2, so configuration requires little input. a. From the Server Management console, click Update Services in the left navigation pane. The Manage Update Services page will appear in the right pane of the Server Management console. b. Under Update Services Status, click Synchronize Now. The synchronization process may take a few minutes, but there is no need to wait for the process to complete. c. From the Manage Update Services page, click Change Update Services Settings. d. Review the available settings on the Server Updates, Client Updates, Schedule, and Included Computers tabs and then click Cancel.

Summary
In this Hands-on Lab, you performed the steps necessary to complete installation and the common configuration tasks associated with SBS 2003 R2. These steps included: Complete installation of the OEM version of the SBS 2003 R2 operating system. Use the documentation provided in the software to learn server configuration best practices. Configure Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for update and patch management. Increased mailbox size limits from 16GB to 75GB for improved e-mail productivity. Integration with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for centralized update and patch management services.
