Special Announcement
Official Dinner hosted by the State of Qatar on the occasion of the Eighteenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani will host an Official Dinner in Honour of Heads of State and Delegation on the occasion of COP 18/CMP 8. The dinner is by invitation only and will be held at the Museum of Islamic Art at 7.00 p.m. on 4 December 2012. The official invitation to each Head of Delegation from His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani will be available for collection at the Main Information Desk located on level 1, (next to the spider). National Focal Points are advised to ensure the collection of their Delegations invitation. Official Dinner VIP buses will be provided to take guests from the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) to the venue. These VIP buses will be departing from the ground level VIP pick-up/drop-off load zone and will have a security escort to ensure guests arrive on time for the event. Guests are strongly encouraged to use this service. The VIP buses will depart the QNCC between 17.30 and 17.50. The travel time to the venue is expected to take 30 minutes. Guests travelling from the QNCC to the Museum of Islamic Art by car should allow up to 90 minutes due to possible traffic congestion. Please note that there will be no vehicle or guest entry into the venue after 19.00.

COP 18 / CMP 8 is operating a Call Centre providing help and information to conference participants, such as hotels, restaurants, venue, transportation and social events. -7Shuttle Buses A complimentary transport service will be provided between selected conference shuttle hubs and the QNCC. Full service will operate from 26 November to 7 December 2012. For security reasons, unattended items found anywhere on the conference premises will be removed by security. The Security office/Lost and found office, located adjacent to the main entrance on the Ground Floor Level of the QNCC, is responsible for lost and found items. UNFCCC and related events


Time 13.15 14.45 Title/Theme High Level Event on Technology Transfer and Finance The event will focus on existing initiatives supporting climate technology transfer and financing. It will discuss (i) the role of development banks through the finance centre approach, and (ii) experiences and views on facilitating technology transfer with private sector engagement, and how the public sector resources could be effectively utilized. Launch of the UN Alliance on Climate Change Education, Training and Public Awareness The Alliance will be launched by highlevel representatives of the Dominican Republic, the European Union, the Gambia, Switzerland and the founding members (FAO, UNESCO, UNEP, UNICEF, UNITAR, WMO and the UNFCCC secretariat) to support the implementation of the work programme on Article 6 of the Convention. Legacy to future events: The Brazilian GHG strategy for Rio+20 implemented CDM voluntary cancellation The event will showcase the innovative GHG compensation strategy for Rio+20, 13-22 June 2012, Brazil. The Brazilian Organizing Committee in cooperation with Caixa Economica Federal, UNDP Brazil and UNFCCC pioneered the application of the CDM voluntary cancellation procedure. Work of the LEG in supporting NAPAs and NAPs in LDCs The LEG will launch the technical guidelines for the NAPs. It will also share information on support needs for the NAPs and provide highlights of its work on support to the NAPAs and the LDC work programme in accordance with its work programme for 2012-2013.
