FULL-PACKED SEMENDER ACTIVITIES SET

For years now, HCECi has celebrated its culminating activities before the semester ends with occasions and events that highlight the trifocal celebrations : Living Rosary, United Nations and Halloween Craze 2012. This year, sem-ender activities commences with the celebration of the Living Rosary. This is the conventional and customary tradition that the school has observed in honor of our Lady of Rosary. This will immediately be followed by the United Nations Celebrations featuring the different Festival Dances around the world. The school encourages everyone to observe simplicity and frugality with regards to costumes and expenses. Trainers are allowed and costumes are limited to PE / ARA shirt, school uniform, black and white t shirts, shorts and tights with leotards. Modification is encouraged. Non-festival dancers are also invited to join the PARADE of NATIONAL COSTUMES, but this is not compulsory. This will be culminated by the HALLOWEEN CRAZE 2012 wherein everyone gets to be visited by the creepiest, scariest, well-loved Halloween Characters. Full details about this event will be posted on the next October 12, 2012 issue. Page 3

PARENTING CORNER
GOAL SETTING for CHILDREN
All parents want their children to be successful in whatever they choose to undertake in life. Setting and achieving goals forms a strong basis on which your childrens success can be built. Here are valuable tips on teaching children how to set and achieve goals: 1. Plan. Be specific on what goals would be appropriate for your child to set based on the strengths your child manifests. Help your child to choose and write down a plan of action; then work out a strategy of how you could help your child to achieve those specific goals. 2. Assess. Make sure that the goals set are attainable- while keeping in mind your childs age, ability and available opportunities. 3. Encourage. As parents, your approbation and encouragement can reinforce his/her feelings of self-worth. Persistent and genuine praise could trigger greater achievement in the attainment of the goals set. 4. Support. Show your support every step of the way to achieve the goals. Teach your child to prioritize his/her activities, and make sure of the nature of help required from you.
