Demographics J.E.B. Southeastern Academy is an independent educational academy serving over 140,000 students in grades K-12. The academy serves students in over 57 countries and certified, full time teaching staff is over 1,000. This academy offers curriculum for each state via Internet and all staff and students are required to have regular access to the Internet. Students enroll in the academy as part of their public school (69%), private school (6%), or home schooling (25%).

Administrative Intelligent Policy: students must have regular access to computer w/ internet either at home or in school as this is an online learning environment. Planning: School plans in accordance with state needs. Comprehensive plan provided to stake holders. Formal evaluation of plan completed on an annual basis. Budget: School's budget is long-term and plans for regular and emergency upgrades. Example: Enrollment growth 80% above projection. School used emergency upgrade funds to expand systems to handle growth. Administrative: The school is a paperless environment. Electronic: Electronic information is in-depth and diverse. It is available through a variety of resources. General lesson and assignments, virtual libraries, Discovery Ed, and .org and .edu sites are available, as well as the www. Staff and students are heavily dependent on e-info on a daily basis.

Assessment: Students submit all assessments electronically. Staff has the option to receive a report each time a student has submitted an assessment. Curriculum Integration: Due to the online learning environment, course work is provided electronically and students are required to utilize 21st century skills throughout all areas of their course work. Teacher Use: Teachers must use technology in order to access student data, student assessments, and collaboration efforts. Student Use: Due to the online course work, all students are required to have regular access to internet connect computers and course work must utilize 21st century skills on a regular basis. Support Intelligent Stakeholder Involvement: Stakeholders are made aware of planning and implementation procedures. Special meetings are held, e-messages sent, and any necessary training provided in an effort to communicate plans, procedures, and implementation information. Administrative Support: Administration provides weekly updates to staff, monthly official meetings and unofficial updates several times a week. Staff passes necessary information to parents and student. Administration also communicates weekly with students and parents. Training: Staff training is extensive and appropriate. Training is available at various times to accommodate individual staff schedules. For example, a book study is available throughout the year offering different times and dates. Trainings are recorded for those who cannot make the live training sessions. Area experts provide all formal training. Technical & Infrastructure Support: Technical support is available via live chat and phone 24/7 for students and staff. Teachers have Academy help sites as well as team members and mentors to reach out to. Connectivity Intelligent Local Area Networking: Staff regularly uses WAN for all services as a means of communication and sharing. Camtasia video and Blackboard Elluminate audio visuals are shared between staff to for how to's, organizational goals, meetings, etc. District Area Networking (WAN): Comprehensive network services with high-speed lines, voice, video, and data capacity; data services are available. Internet Access: Internet access is required for courses. All staff have internet access. State subsidies are available to student needed assistance and/or do not have access to public funded internet access on a regular basis. Communication Systems: email is used on a regular basis for staff, student, and parent communication. One-Call-Now system, text messaging, and video messages are used as well.

Innovation Intelligent New Technologies: There are systematic new technologies adapted regularly. For example, the new version of Blackboard Elluminate will replace the current version. New technology is always considered as an alternative to current technology. If evaluations find that the new technology serves the goals of the school more effectively, they are adapted. Comprehensive Technologies: The most current technologies associated with student learning is available and incorporated. For example, collaborative real time lessons are being made available to iPad users. Summary Due to J.E.B. Southeastern Academy being an online learning institution, ranks in the intelligent level of technology maturity. The Academy relies on this level of maturity in order to be successful. Administrative policy, planning, budget, and information were evaluated. Budgeting reflects a long term plan broken into phases to allow for regular and emergency upgrades. Planning is comprehensive and available to all stakeholders; including state legislatures. An annual, formal evaluation of the plan is included. Not only is it a requirement that students have regular access to the internet either at home or at school but staff members have access to administrative systems 24/7. Courses are provided electronically to students. Students assessments are 100% electronic and incorporate 21st century skills. Staff uses technology on a daily basis to serve students and communicate with stakeholders. Stakeholders receive communication on a daily, weekly, or monthly communication, dependent on the nature of communication. Support ranked in the intelligent column as well. Stakeholders are made aware of planning and implementation procedures. Special meetings are held, e-messages sent, and any necessary training provided in an effort to communicate plans, procedures, and implementation of new information. Administration provides weekly updates to staff, monthly official meetings and unofficial updates several times a week. Staff passes necessary information to parents and students. Administration also communicates weekly with students and parents and with local and state education leaders monthly. Staff training is extensive and made to meet the needs of all members at various times and locations. Staff members have formal help sessions available as well as website information and technical support 24/7. Connectivity is comprehensive. All staff members are required to have high speed internet connection, daily and students are required to have internet connection on a regular basis. Staff members utilize Academy computers that support the most current technologies and capabilities. Communication via email, IM, Skype, text messaging and live online classrooms is supported. Not only is connectivity comprehensive but technologies as well. The upgrade to course technology to allow the increasing number of Academy students accessing their courses via tablets has been implemented and will begin within the next 30 days. The evaluation of this Academy places it in the intelligent category as this institution meets the standards at the highest level.
