About the New England Clean Energy Council

The New England Clean Energy Council (NECEC, a 501c6 trade member organization) was founded in 2006 and has had a signicant impact on the emergence and growth of a vibrant clean energy cluster in New England and on national clean energy initiatives as well. NECEC is the lead voice for hundreds of clean energy companies across New England, inuencing the energy policy agenda and growing the clean energy economy. Our sister organization, the New England Clean Energy Foundation (NECEF, a 501c3) has quickly become a leader in Cluster Development, Research and Development, Innovation, Workforce Development and related programs. Combining forces in policy and planning, NECEF is addressing clean energy cluster gaps and accelerating the innovation pipeline across New England. NECEC and NECEF share a common mission to accelerate New Englands clean energy economy to global leadership by building an active community of stakeholders and a world-class cluster of clean energy companies. NECEC leads e orts in Policy, Government A airs, Communications, Member Benets and Stakeholder Engagement, while NECEF executes projects in the areas of Innovation, Cluster & Economic Development, Education & Workforce Development, and Research.

November 15, 2012 Welcome to the New England Clean Energy Councils 5th Annual Green Tie Gala. Tonight were celebrating 6 years of NECEC successes and the contributions our companies and partners have made to grow the clean energy economy of New England. The New England clean energy cluster is a model for the country. In spite of the politicization and lack of policy progress on the national stage, New England is showing what clean energy success looks like. Our inventors continue to discover; our entrepreneurs continue to start new companies; our teams continue to grow, add jobs and form go-to-market strategic partnerships; and our regions energy is cleaner and more efficient while energy bills are declining. Our Governors and legislatures get it, and are strong partners supporting clean energy policies and regional economic growth. Our keynote speaker, Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin, exemplifies this strong public sector partner. Through his leadership, a Comprehensive Energy Plan, charting a course to supply 90% of Vermonts energy needs through energy efficiency and renewables by 2050, was created. Vermont will be a force for clean energy, to the benefit of our region. For NECEC and our sister organization, NECEF, this has been a year of major organizational growth. We have tripled our staff size, becoming more deeply involved in policy initiatives, communications efforts, innovation programs and market segment development than ever before. In 2013, were committed to working with our members and our national partner, Advanced Energy Economy, to strengthen our advocacy, outreach, programs, relationships and voice of the clean energy industry to tell the many, positive impacts clean energy has made to build support for continued growth. The clean energy community comes together on this special evening to celebrate 2012 accomplishments and strengthen relationships for growth in 2013. I want to particularly thank our Gala sponsors: Deloitte, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, Polachi, William Gallagher Associates, Comerica Bank, Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications and Wolf Greenfield. Finally, I acknowledge the support and involvement of our members who continue to define our region as a clean energy economy leader. Congratulations all, and enjoy the evening.
