Assessment: The students will be assessed the next class in the unit test.

Objectives ( 5 min) The teacher writes in the whiteboard the title Great Lives and explains that they are going to learn how to write a short biography about using personal information and that they are going to do so with a classmate. The teacher states that this is a way to inform about important events during a persons life and we use sentences in the past simple tense in order to talk about the events that took place before the present of a person. OPENING

Materials -Whiteboard -students book

Warm up (10 min) The teacher ask the students about their personal information such as where they were born and when, what are their likes and dislikes and about their families and explains that with this little information they could have a brief biography about themselves. Then, he reviews the students understating in words such as retired, graduated, get married and died in sentences such as my brother graduated from high school in 2010, etc.

PRESENTATION ( 30 min) The teacher asks the students if they have watched the movie Seabiscuit, if they know anything about the racing horse or the actor, Tobey Maguire, and if they know that this movie was taken from a real story. Then, the teacher will tell the students that they are going to read a short biography about the racing horse Seabiscuit and asks the students what information they think a biography should have. The writes questions in relation to the story using WHAT WHEN - WHERE (what was the trainers name? when did Charles buy Seabiscuit? Where was Seabiscuit born? Etc.) And explains that we use wh- words to get more information about people and things; the time in which an action occurred; and a place. After the students read the story, the whole class completes the fill in the gas activity in page 105 of the students book in order to clarify misunderstandings about questions in simple past using Wh-questions.

LESSON CYCLE CLOSING

GUIDED PRACTICE (30 min) The teacher asks the students to brainstorm what information we need in order to make a biography and he will write the students answers in the whiteboard so we can have a chart as in a CV such as place and date of birth, hobbies, job, academic information, marriages and children, etc. once they have enough data, the teacher explains the students that they are going to create a biography, inventing the information. After that, the teacher along with the students will put that information into a text.

INDEPENDENT PRACTICE (30 min) The teacher asks the students to work with his/her classmate. They will have to ask personal information about his/her partner in order to create a biography, they will also have to invent information that still does not happen such as date of death, year of retirement, cause of death, job, etc. After they finish, they will have to present their partner biography to the class

Summarizing and reflecting ( 10 min) The teacher asks the students what they liked the most in the activities and what the most difficult part was. They will also have to say what new information they discovered about their partner.
