What Are We Up To?

It has been an awesome experience to help create the foundation for Ignite. Working with great people who share a passion for sports and building a company that promotes the growth and value of youth sports is very gratifying. Each one of us at Ignite competed in youth sports at a high level and those experiences have helped shape who we are today. This summer, we traveled the globe and experienced some of the best youth soccer in the world. This is our version of Research and Development. Taras Jaworsky, Regional Sales Manager in Chicago, took a group to his native Ukraine for a month. They traveled, trained, and competed with the most competitive clubs in the country. Off the pitch they immersed themselves in the 2012 Euro Cup that was played in the Ukraine and Poland and saw some of the worlds top players and national teams. Spain emerged victorious to become the first team to win two consecutive European Championships, and the first international team to win three straight major tournament titles (Euro 2008, 2010 World Cup, and Euro 2012).

Tim Ryerson, Regional Sales Manager in Los Angeles, took a group over to Gothenburg, Sweden to play in the Gothia Cup. The annual tournament is known as The Worlds Largest Football Tournament featuring 35,200 players, 1567 teams, and representing 72 nations. Ryerson Soccer www.ryersonsoccer.com has been leading youth soccer clubs from the US to play in international events for years. Steve and I merely stayed in the United States and had the two largest youth national championships in our respective backyards. The National Premier Leagues (NPL) Champions Cup and National Cup XI Finals, US Club Soccers two national championship events, were held outside of Chicago at Waukegan Sports Park. The pair of events, held July 27-31, included 168 of the top teams from across the United States. www.nationalpremierleagues.com. I had the pleasure of attending the US Youth Soccer National Championships www.usyouthsoccer.org outside of Charlotte at Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex in Rock Hill, SC. I was blown away by the level of play and the progression of youth soccer since my playing days. Take a look on our website www.ignitesportsmarketing to see some of the great moments from the tournament. Steve, Tim, and I also managed to take in the Columbia Invitational over Memorial Day weekend outside of Baltimore, MD. Youth soccer is a way of life in the area and almost 600 teams competed over the weekend. Tim and his family grew up playing in the area and it was easy to see where the four Ryerson brothers passion for the game was developed. In October, we had the opportunity to sponsor the annual Pink in the Park soccer event in Charlotte in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The evening featured a varsity and JV match between Myers Park High School and Ardrey Kell and included drawings, fan promotions, and a balloon release at halftime. It was a great night for the local soccer community to come together and support a great cause.
