Use cautiously with patient with cardiac disease and renal impairment. Side effects Arrythmias, heart block, hypotension cardiac arrest, Hyperkalemia, respiratory paralysis, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain. Adverse effects Diarrhea,nausea, stomach pain, discomfort or gas vomiting. Action Contraindication Side effects No reported side effects. Adverse effects Drug Interactions:Chloramphenicol vitamin B12 is important for producing new blood cells. Chloramphenicol might decrease new blood cells. Taking chloramphenicol for a long time might decreasethe effects of dibencozide on new blood cells. But most people only take chloramphenicol for a short time sothis interaction isn't a big problem. Nursing Management -Assess for any contraindication to the drug such as hypersensitivity to vitaminB12 derivatives. -Observe the patients 10 rights when giving the medication. -Monitor vital signs and report for any unusual appearance on the patient. -Follow proper drug order and check for the effectiveness of the drug -Instruct patient not to take drugs containing chloramphenicol.

It plays a crucial role in maintaining the fluid and electrolyte balance. Excess retention of sodium results in overhydration(edem a, hypervolemia), which is often treated with diuretics.
