2 teams compete in the middle of the field and attempt to get the ball to the team in the goal zone which they are attacking. When the ball is passed into a goal zone the team that passed the ball stays on and defends against the team which received the pass which enters the field. If the ball is intercepted that teamthen plays to the Goal Zone they are attacking. In the diagrams above: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) A1 and the blue team successfully pass the ball into the black team. This means that the red team is off and goes into the Goal Zone they were defending. The black team enters the field with the ball and attacks the blue team who has now transitioned to defending the Goal Zone with the white team in it. B3 makes a good run behind A2. B1 plays a through ball to B3. B3 passes into the white team who would then be released and the blue team would take their place in the Goal Zone.

SCORING: * Goals are scored by passing into the Goal Zone successfully. * The team with the highest number of goals after a set duration is the winner (i.e. 10 minutes). KEY COACHING POINTS: 1) Quick to transition from attacking to defending. 2) Communication to pick up markers on defense. 3) Break out quickly from the Goal Zones (Counter Attack) to catch the other team in transition. 4) Good attacking runs to disrupt the defending teams organization. 5) Close down the ball fast, put immediate pressure on the ball to deny a quick easy pass to the Goal Zones. PROGRESSIONS: 1) Play three touch. 2) Play two touch. 3) Require the pass into the Goal Zone be an aerial pass. 4) Teams only have a maximum of 7 passes to get the ball from one Goal Zone to the other. VARIATIONS: 1) Perform as handball (same rules), as a warm-up. NOTES AND OBSERVATIONS: Teams have to be good at both attacking and defending to be successful at this game. Their transition needs to be quick. This game can get highly competitive with lots of scoring and quick decision making for the players. The game is continous without breaks which keeps all the players involved. Share Twitter .cpr a{color:#d6d6d6; font-size:8px;} SocButtons plugin Last Updated on Wednesday, 03 March 2010 07:12
