in which different profiles are involved (governments, institutions, technicians, people) and each actor plays a different role.

While interventions or projects that do have a start date and an end, participation doesnt begin when projects start and end when these end: it is a spiral that runs through our projects, it has moments of progress, back ... Each context gives to participatory process a different logic that we have to consider. The process has to start from "what is" and they accompany the communities in this process that transcends us

Implies a focus change in each and every one of the actors involved. It means recognizing that each actor plays a different role and has a role and a different knowledge, from which we must build something new all together, it would be impossible to build from the point of view of only one of the actors.

You can not blame the "lack of participation" only to the people. The technicians and leaders also have to learn to participate. Participation is not practiced unilaterally, it must be built between them, creating spaces in which we can encourage other forms of doing.

It should work even in the smallest details (eg space distribution at meetings, workshops and seminars, how it spreads the word, how decisions are made ...) to promote other ways of relating.

You can not "transmit" theoretically what is or what it involves, you need experience, open spaces in which things are done differently.

We cant measure participation in terms of how many people "respond" or not to proposed slogans. We have the right to participate in issues that concern us, affecting our daily lives, but we must be able to participate in the identification of these issues.

I have to participate in the identification of these problems, otherwise it is impossible to assume proposals as mine as they are designed from a different logic, and often come to try solve (even with the best intentions) problems that I do not feel close to me. Often technical or politicians decide to implement participatory mechanisms to solve problems that are been identified by them, and we call people to get involved on problems or issues that often do not coincide with their concern. It is necessary to consider the participation of all stake holders in the definition of the problem / issue.

It must be clear to those involved that we are building together, where we are walking to, how far the process is generating changes (personal, family in my daily environment, in my community, ...). The process should help to understand and transform the reality in which we are immersed, causing changes that cross in every way everyday people.
