Volume 12, Number 53

A Time to Share
Acts 2:42And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. One thing this time of year tends to do is to bring people together. Families gather to see one another. They hug, kiss, and they talk. Oh they do talk. Sometimes it is hard to get them to stop talking long enough to do anything else; even eat. There is something special about the fellowship involved in talking with one another. The key is having common ground. Families have common ground. There were about seventy of us (my wifes family) gathered for a family Christmas. I stood in the kitchen area. Actually, there were no places left to sit. Family was still arriving. Some of them had not seen each other for four years. Then there were even the babies that had been born in more recent days. There is always a lot of discussion about babies and their impact on the life of the immediate family. Aunts, cousins, and other related ladies spend time telling how much the baby looks like the mother or the father. There is also a lot of discussion about eating, sleeping, and personality traits. Ladies love to talk about those things. Men are not so inclined to delve into the childs details. They just look at one another with a gloating kind of expression, and note how fast a baby boy is growing. Whatever is said is really just way of relating and sharing. In other words, it is fellowship. We need fellowship. It is life intertwining. Too often we push it into a lower place of importance. Think of all the times Jesus spent conversing with His disciples. There doesnt seem to be a program, just good healthy talk. So the family talked. So our family should talk; fellowship. Russ

Thanks to Michael and Brent for taking the preaching duties, and to Keith for making sure we would have singing on Wednesday evening. Though the weather played a role, it is always good to know we have such willing and able people, who will step up to whatever task needs to be done. - Russ Random Acts of Kindness Why not make 2013 the year that you set of goal of doing what have become known as Random Acts of Kindness? Many of us will respond in times of emergency as Good Samaritans, when a benevolent program is in place, or (sadly) when we know it will give us notice. Why not just seek the opportunity to do something nice. Try a goal of one per month in 2013!!

Visitation Update Group # 3 will be in charge of making visits

this week. Resolution Have you determined or resolved to make some changes with the new year? Perhaps reading your Bible on a daily basis in one of them. Remember: How much you read is not nearly as important as that you read and get some meaning from your reading. If you desire one, we can get you a daily Bible reading schedule. >>> 6Suggestions for Daily Bible Reading 1. Find a time that you can set aside daily to read and not be disturbed. 2. Get a Bible that is readable in type and print size, as well as being sturdy or comfortable. 3. Implement your plan without delay. 4. With the exception of emergencies, postpone other activities in order to do your reading. 5. In the case that your reading is interrupted, try to fulfill it later in the day. 6. Share what you are doing with others. It helps motivate you and just might inspire others to read as well.
