This week we come to the final portion of the book of Bereshith/Genesis and the end of the life of Jacob as well as Joseph! Vayechi/And He Lived covers Genesis 47:28 50:26 leaving us with the children of Israel settled in Egypt, setting the stage for their foretold enslavement and bondage there as well as their redemption via the mighty hand of Yahweh. The portion itself gives us the details of the way Jacob prepares for his death, his funeral arrangements, and the blessings over his sons. Yet in the midst of what may seem like quite a personal event, were reminded that the end (our day) is declared from the beginning (bereshith), therefore we must begin to peel back the layers and remove the veil in order to understand the impact upon us! Genesis 47:28-31 *Notice the parshah starts out by using the name Jacob, yet quickly switches to using the name Israel, and if you were to continue reading youll find that it switches back to Jacob in the very next verse. The emphasis is placed on the fact that Israel must not be buried in Egypt! Israel: Strongs #3478 Yisrael God prevails Gematria = 541, the same value as hamitzvot the commandments, lechet avnim tablets of stone (stone: #68 eben stone; from #1129 banah to build the house, establish, cause to continue, to rebuild; eben itself contains the root = son) In other words, Jacob was relaying to Joseph that the sons that would be responsible for building the house, establishing it, and causing it to continue on were charged with not allowing the mitzvoth/the commandments to die in Egypt! 541 = Eshmar I will keep. What is taking place in these verses is what is referred to as a yarek oath Joseph places his hand under the thigh of Jacob. When one placed their hand under the thigh/loins it was symbolic of authority and seed being passed on in this covenant. Jacob is passing on the seed of YHVH and the authority/responsibility that comes with it, charging Joseph to keep Torah alive in the house! *Now we can understand why Jacobs bones are carried out and buried at the Cave of Machpelah yet Josephs bones are placed into a coffin and kept in Egypt until the Exodus! Coffin: Strongs #727 arown chest, ark; same term used to describe the Ark of the Covenant His bones had the seed/Word/Mitzvot within them and they became the reminder to the entire house of the covenant that they were in with

Yahweh! = I will & = ringing cry, shout of joy, shout of deliverance When the arown/coffin of the bones of Joseph were lifted up to be carried out it caused a ringing cry, shout of joy, and a shout of deliverance to echo through the rest of the house! Because those bones contained the Word/DNA of Yahweh, Psalm 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered [them] from their destructions. Could this also be why it is the house of Joseph, the scattered sheep that have been for the most part in Egypt still? We are supposed to be the Ark carrying within us the stone tablets that will rebuild the house and were to keep the commandments alive so the rest of the house can be reminded of who they are when its time to leave on the greater exodus! So the house can have a shout of deliverance among them! Israel comes from the root #8280 sarah to prevail, have power, contend with, persist; related to #7795 sowrah row, order; the 3 letter root forms several words of interest: 1) #7794 showr ox, bull, a head of cattle (from the root #7788 shuwr to travel, journey, go); remember that the bull (Apis) was the head god of Egypt of which Pharaoh was believed to be a manifestation of. 2) #7789 shuwr to gaze on, look at, regard, to see or observe, it describes in a prophetic sense seeing something in the future. Could it be that something prophetic is being shown here through Jacob/Israel that will take place in the future? As the yarek oath is struck, passing on the seed/Word to Joseph, we find that the house is being prodded to look/gaze/regard/ and observe the way the bull travels on his journey! What does that mean? It happens that at this point in history, the constellational house that was ruling was the house of Taurus the Bull, hence the reason it was the symbol of Egypts power and the ruling god of their religion! Yet we find the sons being instructed to watch because the bull/Taurus would move, the ruling house in the heavens would change! Our other clues are found within the numbers! Jacob has lived in Egypt 17 years. 17 = Strongs #2329 chuwg circle, compass, circuit, vault of the heavens (once again pointing our attention towards what would be taking place in the heavens/constellations); related to #2287 chagag to hold a feast, hold a festival, to keep a pilgrim feast used in reference to the Feast of Unleavened Bread/Pesach! *Breaking apart the term chag feast = the letter formed by the blood on the doorposts/loins of the house & reference to the

firstborn son The number 17 reminds & foretells how the firstborn would be saved if the blood of another firstborn son (Messiah) was applied to the loins of the house! Its pointing us directly towards Pesach! *The name Israel = 541, the same value as hamatsot the unleavened bread! Its no accident that Taurus/the Bull/Pharaoh would be overtaken in the vault of the heavens by Aries/the Lamb this would coincide with the Passover Lamb being slaughtered in order for Israel to come out of their bondage! *Another connection to the lamb is found in the use of the name Israel connecting back to when Jacob is first named Israel and touched in the thigh. Genesis 32:31-32 Touched: Strongs #5060 naga to touch, reach, strike; the same term is used in Exodus 12:22 of how they were to strike/naga the doorposts with the blood of the Passover lamb. The doorposts represented the loins of the man, symbolically Jacob is stuck/naga in the loins with the blood as well! These same letters spell #6027 oneg exquisite delight, pleasantness; specifically connected with the Sabbath the sign of the Covenant, the mark of one who returns/makes teshuva ( = to return, make teshuva = Covnant, a mark/sign). Now we find him relaying that his descendants as well will have to strike the doorposts and the lamb would then deliver them from the bull/Pharaoh in order for them to once again build the house and enter into a covenant that would allow them to experience the oneg, the delight of Yahweh! Cognate term of naga touch is #5061 nega stroke, plague, disease, mark of leprosy the failure to do so (to strike the loins of the house) would leave a mark/disease/plague upon the house. What would this mark/disease affect? Nega = seed = firstborn son, the firstborn was supposed to be the priest of the household, the one responsible for teaching the Torah = to see, understand, obey, it has a numerical value of 70 connecting to the 70 souls that went into Egypt and the value of the word ayin = 130 (+ 70 = 130 : 50 = ) = 01 + the number of years Jacob lived outside of Egypt (dies at 147 17 years in Egypt = 130). *If they failed to protect the seed/strike the loins of the house, their ability to see, understand, and obey the Torah would be diminished and they would remain in Egypt/in bondage instead of experiencing the oneg/joys of life outside of it (130)! Now to the number 147, the years of Jacobs life.

The 147th verse in the Torah is Genesis 6:9 These [are] the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man [and] perfect in his generations, [and] Noah walked with Elohim. *Noah was perfect in his generations in other words he kept the DNA line untainted and the seed/Word of Yahweh uncompromised the same thing Jacob is now charging Joseph and the rest of the house with doing while in Egypt! Noah: Strongs #5146 Noach rest; from #5118 nuwach resting place, 1st used in 2 Chronicles 6:41 Now therefore arise, O Yahweh Elohim, into thy resting/nuwach place, thou, and the ark/arown (same term for the coffin Joseph is placed in) of thy strength: let thy priests, O Yahweh Elohim, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness. *2 Chronicles 6:38-42 In other words, we are reminded that if we will guard the Word of Yahweh and keep the mitzvoth alive, even while in Egypt/scattered throughout the nations, Yahweh has promised a nuwach/resting place for the arown, the bones of Joseph, and just as the physical bones of Joseph were carried out of Egypt, so the bones of his descendants will be as well if we will be obedient to strike the loins of the house (allow the carnal fleshly nature to be cut away and instead have the Torah inscribed upon us)!
